محمد بن أبي عبد الله

The Messenger of Allah (s) said: Whoever would be gladdened by Allah gathering all goodness for him should align with `Ali after me; and align with his supporters and oppose his enemies.

The Messenger of Allah (s) said: Allah said: “Had all the people gathered upon the wilaya of `Ali, I would not have created the Fire.”

Al-Sadiq Ja`far b. Muhammad (as) said: Whoever establishes the obligations of Allah, abstains from what Allah has prohibited, perfects his wilaya to the Ahl al-Bayt of the Prophet of Allah, and dissociates from the enemies of Allah will enter from whichever of the eight gates of Paradise that he wishes.

The Messenger of Allah (swt) (peace be upon him and his family) said: "The Imams (as) after me are twelve. The first of them is Ali ibn Abi Talib (as), and the last of them is the Riser (Al-Qaʾim (as)). They are my successors, my trustees, my guardians, and the proofs of Allah (swt) over my nation after me. Whoever acknowledges them is a believer, and whoever denies them is a disbeliever."

Amir al-Mu’minin (as) said: I am the vicegerent of the Messenger of Allah, his vizier, and his inheritor. I am the brother of the Messenger of Allah, his deputy, and his beloved. I am the elite one of the Messenger of Allah and his companion. I am the cousin of the Messenger of Allah, the husband of his daughter, and the father of his descendants. I am the Master of the Deputies and the Deputy of the Master of Prophets. I am the decisive argument, the great sign, the highest ideal, and the gate of the Chosen Prophet. I am the Firm Handle, the pious word, the faithful of Allah, and His reminder for the people of this world.

The Messenger of Allah, Allah’s blessings be upon him and his Family, said: Indeed, Abu Bakr is to me by the position of the hearing, and indeed, Umar is to me by the position of the vision, and indeed, Uthman is to me by the position of the heart. He said: When the other day came, I entered into his place, and with him was the Commander of the Believers, peace be upon him, as well as Abu Bakr, Umar and Uthman, and I said to him: O father, I heard you say a saying about these companions of yours. What is it? He, peace be upon him, said: Yes. He then pointed with his hand towards them and said: They are the hearing, the vision and the heart, and they shall be asked about the Divine Authority of this Successor of mine. He then pointed towards Ali bin Abi Talib, peace be upon him, and then said: Indeed, Allah, Exalted and Glorious is He, says: «Indeed, the hearing, the vision and the heart, all of those are to be asked about him.» (17:36) He, Allah’s blessings be upon him and his Family, then said: My the Might of my Lord, indeed, all of my nation are to stand on the Day of Resurrection and are to be asked about his Divine Authority, and that is the saying of Allah, Exalted and Glorious is He: «And stop them. Indeed, they are to be asked.» (37:24)

The Messenger of Allah (s) said to `Ali (as): O `Ali! You are the Imam of the Muslims, the Commander of the Faithful, the Leader of the shining believers, the Proof of Allah after me over the whole creation, the Master of Deputies, and the Deputy of the Master of Prophets. O `Ali! When I was taken up to the seventh heaven, and from there to the Lote Tree of the Furthest Boundary (sidratul muntaha), and from there to the veils of light, my Lord ennobled me with His whisper. He said to me: “O Muhammad!” I said: “I am here at Your service, my Lord, may You be glorified and exalted.” He said: “Surely, `Ali is the Imam of My friends, the light of whoever obeys Me, and the word that the pious stick to. Whoever obeys him has obeyed Me, and whoever disobeys Him has disobeyed Me. So, give him glad tidings of that.” So, `Ali (as) said: O Messenger of Allah! Is my omen such that I would be mentioned there?! So, he said: Yes, `Ali. So, thank your Lord. So, `Ali (as) fell in prostration, thanking Allah for what He had blessed him with. So, the Messenger of Allah (s) said to him: Raise your head, `Ali, for surely, Allah has boasted about you to His angels.

"The Messenger of Allah (saw) sent ʿAlī (as) to Yemen. A horse belonging to a man from Yemen escaped and kicked a man, killing him. The relatives of the deceased brought him to ʿAlī (as), and the owner of the horse provided evidence that the horse had escaped from his home and kicked the man. ʿAlī (as) therefore invalidated the blood money for the man. The relatives of the deceased came to the Prophet (saw) complaining about ʿAlī (as), saying: 'ʿAlī has wronged us and invalidated the blood of our companion.' The Messenger of Allah (saw) said: 'ʿAlī is not an oppressor; he was not created for oppression. The guardianship after me belongs to ʿAlī, his judgment is his judgment, and his words are his words. No one denies his judgment and words and guardianship except a disbeliever, and no one is pleased with his judgment, words, and guardianship except a believer.' When the Yemenis heard the words of the Messenger of Allah (saw) regarding ʿAlī (as), they said: 'O Messenger of Allah, we accept ʿAlī's words and judgment.' The Messenger of Allah (saw) said: 'This is your repentance for what you said.'"

“Once I was in thepresence of abu Muhammad (a.s.) that permission was requested for a man from Yemen to see the Imam (a.s.). A chubby, tall and heavy man then came in and greeted the Imam with the greeting for Wilaya, the Leader with Divine Authority and received the acceptance response. The Imam (a.s.) asked him to have a sit and he sat just next to me. I then said to myself, “I wish not to have been so close to him.” Abu Muhammad (a.s.) then said, “This is of the children of the Arab lady for whom my ancestors had been printing their seals on a pebble for her and the print would take place. He has brought it with him and wants me to print my seal on it also. He then asked the man to give it to him. The man took out a pebble and on one side of there was a smooth space. Abu Muhammad (a.s.) then took it, brought his seal out, printed on it and the print took place. Even now it is as if I see the print of his (al-Hassan ibn Ali’s) seal on the pebble it. I then said to the man from Yemen, “Had you ever seen him (abu Muhammad (a.s.) before?” He said, “No, by Allah, I had always was anxious to see him until at this time a young man came to me whom I had not seen before and said, ‘Stand up and come in and I came in.” The man from Yemen then left saying, “May Allah’s grace and blessings be with you people of Ahl al-Bayt whose each generation is just the other generation. I testify before Allah that it is obligatory to preserve your rights just as it was the case with Amir al-Mu’minin Ali (a.s.) and the Imams after him, may Allah grant all of them blessings.” He then left and thereafter I never saw him. Ibn Ishaq has said that abu Hashim al-Ja’fari has said, “I asked him his name. He said, “My name is Mahja‘ ibn al-Salt ibn ‘Aqaba ibn Sam‘an ibn Ghanim ibn ’Umm Ghanim. She was the Arab lady from Yemen that had the pebble on which Amir al-Mu’minin (a.s.) had printed his seal and also his descendants up to the time of abu al-Hassan (a.s.).”
