O Abu al-Miqdam, the Shia of Ali (a) are the pale, the thin, and the emaciated. Their lips are dry, their stomachs are atrophied, and their colors are faded.

1. The Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s.) says, “A two-rakat Salaat offered with complete attention is better than to stand the whole night (in prayers).”

Whoever recites Surah Maoon in his obligatory and optional prayers would be among those whose prayers and fasts are accepted by Allah, the Mighty and the Sublime, and that man would not be subjected to reckoning for whatever he has done in the world.

“I asked Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) about worship, ‘What kind of worshipping sets the worshipper free from obligations.’ The Imam said, ‘It is obedience with good intention and in good faith.’”

“The Messenger of Allah has said, ‘The best of the people are those who love worship (of Allah) intensely. They hold to it, love it in their hearts, accompany it with their body and are devoted in it. Such people are concerned no more about the world, whether it gives them comfort or difficulties.’”

“I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about a man who forgets a letter of the recitation and remembers it in Ruku‘ (bowing down on one’s knees); is it permissible for him to recite in Ruku‘? He (the Imam) said, ‘No, it is not permissible but he recites in Sujud (prostration).”’

“I heard abu Ja‘far (a.s.), say, ‘Every book that has come from the heavens begins with “In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.’” When you read, ‘In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful’ it is then not an offense not to read: ‘I seek refuge with Allah against Satan, the condemned one.’ When you read, ‘In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful’, it protects you from things between the sky and earth.”

“I am God’s servant and the Prophet (MGB)’s brother. I am the greatest friend. No one will claim that he has this rank after me unless he is a liar. I have prayed for seven years before other people did.”

Imam Ja’far Sadiq was asked about the ruling against the person who uses an intoxicant. Imam (a.s.) replied, “His prayers will not be accepted for next forty days and he cannot repent during these forty days. If he dies during these days, he will go to Hell.”

“I once said to abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), that a man stands up for Salah (prayer), wants to read a Surah (chapter) and he reads Surah (chapter) 112 and Surah (chapter) 109. He (the Imam) said, ‘He can discontinue reading any Surah (chapter) except Surah (chapter) 112 and Surah (chapter) 109.’”

“The Messenger of Allah once said, ‘O Ali, this religion is strong (and vast). Follow it with care. Do not cause your soul to hate the worship of your Lord. The extremist is like a person who during a journey destroys his riding animal and is left without any animal to ride before reaching his destination. Do good deeds like one who knows he will die very old and be cautious as one who is afraid of dying the next day.’”

“Abu ’Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that a man may perform a Salah (prayer) without facing proper al-Qiblah (al-Ka‘bah). He may realize it before completing the Salah (prayer). If his face is within one hundred eighty degrees of the al-Qiblah (al-Ka‘bah) he must turn to al-Qiblah (al-Ka‘bah) as soon as he realizes. If his back is toward al-Qiblah (al-Ka‘bah), he must discontinue the Salah (prayer), then turn to al-Qiblah (al-Ka‘bah) and begin the Salah (prayer) again.”’

“I asked the Prophet (MGB) about the words by which Adam’s prayers were accepted when he repented. The Prophet (MGB) replied, “Adam (MGB) asked God to accept his repentance by the rightfulness of Muhammad, Ali, Fatimah, Al-Hassan and Al-Hussein!” This narration has also been recorded by the author in his Interpretation of the Quran.

O Abu al-Miqdam, the Shia of Ali (as) are only the pale, the thin, and the feeble. Their lips are faded because of worship and their stomachs are atrophied. Their colors are pale and they are white-faced. When night comes upon them, they betake the ground as their bed and the direction of their foreheads. Their eyes are teary, their teardrops are heavy, and their prayers are very much. They recite the Book of Allah. When people are happy, they are grieved.

1. Imam Husain (a.s.) narrates that the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s.) said, “One who remembers Allah sitting at the place he offered Morning Prayer till sunrise is given reward equal to the number of pilgrims of the house of Allah and he would get salvation. If he sits there till the time of next Salaat and offers at least four rakat prayer all his past sins would be forgiven and he would get reward equal to performing Hajj of the House of Allah.”

`Ali b. al-Husayn the Master of Worshipers (as) used to supplicate with this supplication: My God! By Your glory, Your majesty, and Your greatness! If I had worshiped You forevermore, in the eternity of your lordship, with every hair and glance since I came into existence, with the worship and the thanks of all creatures, I would be lacking in the expression of my thanks for the smallest blessing that You have blessed me with. Even if I suffered with the iron of this world in my teeth and with its dust smeared on the lashes of my eyes, and I wept as much blood and pus as there is water in the oceans of the heavens and the Earth out of humility before you, that would only be a little from the much that I owe you. Even if thereafter, You, my God, were to punish me with the punishment of all creatures, and the Fire overcame my form and my body, and I filled the levels of Hell to the point where no one was punished except me, and there would be no firewood in Hell but me, that would only be a little from the much that is due for me from Your punishment.

he heard Abdullah Bin Ata’a saying that: Abu Ja’far (asws) said: ‘Arise, and saddle two animals, a donkey and a mule’. So I saddled a donkey and a mule and offered the mule to him (asws) as I opined that it was more beloved of the two to him (asws). he (asws) said: ‘Who ordered you to offer to me (asws) this mule?’ I said, ‘I chose it for you (asws)’. He (asws) said: ‘And did I (asws) order you to choose for me (asws)?’ Then said: ‘The most preferable of the pack, to me (asws) is the donkey’. So I offered the donkey to him (asws) and grabbed the reins for him (asws). He (asws) climbed upon it and said; ‘Praise be to Allah (azwj) Who Guided us (asws) by Al-Islam, and Taught us (asws) the Quran, and Bestowed upon us (asws) by Muhammad (saww). Praise be to Allah (azwj) “[43:13] Who made this subservient to us and we were not able to do it [43:14] And surely to our Lord we must return”, and Praise be to Allah (azwj) the Lord (azwj) of the Worlds’. And he (asws) went and I went (with him (asws)) until we reached another place. I said to him (asws), ‘The Salat, may I be sacrificed for you (asws)’. He (asws) said: ‘This is a valley of the ants, one cannot Pray here’, until we reached another place. I said to him (asws) similar to that. He (asws) said; ‘This is a salty ground, one cannot Pray here’. (The narrator) said, ‘Until he (asws) descended by himself (asws). He (asws) said to me: ‘Have you Prayed or done your Glorification (Tasbeeh)?’ I said, ‘This Salat which the people of Iraq have named it as Al-Zawwaal’. So he (asws) said: ‘Those who perform the ‘Salat’, are the Shites of Ali (asws) Bin Abu Talib (asws), and it is the Salat which often reaches Allah (azwj)’. So he (asws) Prayed, and I Prayed. Then I grabbed the reins for him (asws), then he (asws) said what he (asws) had said at the beginning, then said: ‘Our Allah (azwj)! Curse the Murjiites, for they are our (asws) enemies in the world and the Hereafter’. So I said to him (asws): ‘May I be sacrificed for you (asws), what made you (asws) to remember the Murjiites?’ He (asws) said: ‘I (asws) just thought about them’.
