“Be patient and excel in patience and remain steadfast.” “Be patient in offering the obligations, persevere before your enemies and wait for your expected imam.”

“Would there remain only two people on earth, one of them would the person with divine authority over the other.” Muhammad ibn al-Hassan has narrated from Sahl ibn Ziyad from Muhammad ibn ‘Isa a similar Hadith.

I heard Abu Ja’far al-Baqir (as) saying: “Al-Qa’im (as) disappears and his kin (companions) deny him.” I said: “Why is that?” He said: “He fears.” And he pointed with his hand at his abdomen showing that he fears to be killed.”

I heard Abu Abdullah as-Sadiq (as) mentioning al-Qa’im (as). I said: “I hope that his matter (rising) will be so easy.” He said: “It will be not so until you wipe blood and sweat together.”

“Once I said to Imam ar-Redha (as): “May Allah make you succeed! People narrate that as-Sufyani will rise after the rule of the Abbasids declines.” He said: “They tell but falseness! As-Sufyani will rise while the rule of the Abbasids is still prevailing.”

ʿAbd Allāh narrated to me, he said: Yaḥyā b. ʿUbayd Allāh informed us, he said: I heard my father saying, "I heard Abū Hurayrah say that the Messenger of God (ṣ) said, 'A Servant will enter the Garden due to removing a thorn which was on the path of the Muslims, clearing and making safe the way for them.'"

“I heard Abu Ja’far al-Baqir (as) saying: Every banner that is raised-or comes out-before the appearance of al-Qa’im (as) will be of an oppressive arrogant.”

“As a man is behind al-Qa’im ordering and forbidding, he (al-Qa’im) will order that he is to be killed. Then everything in the world will fear him.”

“Abu Ja’far (a.s.) has said, ‘The prayer quickest to success and acceptance is one’s prayer for his brother (in belief) in his absence where one starts praying for him and the angels guarding say, ‘Amin’ You will have twice as much you asked for him.’”

I heard Abu Abdillah, peace be upon him, say that Isa, peace be upon him, used to say to his disciples: "If you are my friends and my brothers, then prepare your minds to reconcile with all the hostility and hatred coming from people. If you are not so mentally prepared, then you are not my brothers. I teach you so that you may learn; and I do not teach you to please you. You will not attain your goal till you renounce your desires and by forbearance over that which you hate. I warn you against the evil glance, for it sows the seeds of lust in the heart of the beholder; and that is enough to tempt him. Blessed is he who beholds with his two eyes the tempting love of lust, but does not allow his heart to err. How far is that which one has missed; and how close is that which is to come! Woe unto those beguiled by vanity, should that which they loathe come to them too soon, and that which they love dearly depart, and that of which they had been warned arrive! Indeed, in the creation of these nights and days, there is a lesson. Woe unto him whose entire concern is about this world only, and whose deeds are all evil and sins. How will he stand exposed before his Sustainer tomorrow! And do not talk much about things other than remembering Allah! Surely, those who talk much other than remembering Allah, have their hearts hardened, but they do not know. Do not engage yourselves in looking into other people’s shortcomings and faults, as if you were their spies; instead, look into ways of freeing yourselves; for surely you are possessed slaves. How often does water flow on the mountain, but it does not soften? For how long have you studied words of wisdom, but your hearts do not soften for them? Slaves of the evil people and not of the pious! Nor are you liberated men of honour! Your example is that of oleander whose flower pleases the beholder, but its taste kills - Peace be with you."

30. Al-Husayn ibn al-Hassan al-‘Alawi has said the following. “A man who was an informer for Ruz Hassani with another man with him once said to Ruz, “This man (al-Mahdi (a.s.) is out there. Money is collected for him. He has representatives in many places. They mentioned his representatives by their names in different areas. This news reached ‘Ubaydallah ibn Sulayman, the vizier. The Vizier decided to arrest these representatives. The Sultan said, “Find out. Where is this man? This is a serious matter.” ‘Ubaydallah ibn Sulayman then said, “We will arrest the representatives, the agent.” The Sultan said, “No, you must send your undercover agents who would pose to them as devotees ready to pay their dues to their Imam. If they accepted the funds then arrest them.” The narrator has said that message came out from the holy location (office of Imam al-Mahdi (a.s.) to inform all the representatives not to accept any dues from anyone, deny knowing anything about the Imam (a.s.) and say that they have no information. A man who was an undercover agent came to Muhammad ibn Ahmad whom he did not know. The undercover agent spoke to him privately and said, “I have certain funds with me and I want it to be delivered to the holy location (office of Imam al-Mahdi (a.s.).” Muhammad said to him, “You have made a mistake. I do not know anything about it. He would insist and try to show kindness and Muhammad would deny having any knowledge of it. The spies spread to all places but the representatives refuse to accept any funds because of the message that was dilivered to them before hand.”

He, Allah’s blessings be upon him and his Family, also forbade that which is slaughtered for the jinns. (The meaning of) That which is slaughtered for the jinns, is that one buys a house, extracts a core and the likes of that, and that one slaughters an (animal of) offering due to that in haste. Abu Ubaida said: Its meaning is that they used to haste to (perform) this act out of fear that if they do not slaughter or feed (from it), something would afflict them from the jinns. Hence, the Prophet, Allah’s blessings be upon him and his Family.

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), once said to ‘Ubayd ibn Ziyad, ‘Showing the bounty is more beloved to Allah than its safekeeping. Therefore, you must live in your people with the best dress among them.’ He (the narrator) has said that ‘Ubayd was never seen except with the best dress among his people until he died.’”

Abu Ja’far (asws) having said; ‘The one who sits in a gathering in which an Imam (asws) from the Imams (asws) is insulted, and he has the ability to remedy that and he does not do so, Allah (azwj) Mighty and Majestic would Clothe him in disgrace in the world and Punish him in the Hereafter, and would Confiscate the benefit which he has from our (asws) understanding (Ma’rifat)’.

“Whenever any of you finish your Hajj pilgrimage to the Kaaba, come to (Khorasan to) complete your Hajj pilgrimage by visiting us (i.e. Ar-Ridha’’s (a.s.) shrine). This indeed will complete the Hajj.”

affairs of the (King’s) Trusteeship are in the hands of his uncle. The Imam (a.s.) wrote him back and said, ‘Regarding the issue of the (King’s) Trusteeship you have become self-sufficient and this problem will soon be solved.’ Muhammad became extremely worried and thought that he would be dismissed from being in charge of this affair, but he died twenty days later.”

Aba Abdullah as-Sadiq (MGB), “What is fine for a man to see of a woman, if he is unfamiliar to her?” The Imam (MGB) told him, “The face, the two palms of her hands, and the two feet.”

“You should separate the beds of boys from that of other women when they become ten years old.”

Whoever has sexual intercourse with his woman before she reaches nine years old and she gets hurt is responsible for it.”

“I once said to abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), ‘I own palm trees. Instruct me how to be proper in my giving and taking.’ Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), said, ‘Keep your intention to maintain it (crop) properly fair; if despite such intention, less proper fairness takes place, you are of those who maintain it properly. On the other hand, if you intended it to be less proper, but maintained it properly, you are of those who maintain it less properly.’”
