الحسن

Abu Abdullah (as) was asked, while I was present, about a woman entering Ihram wearing a turban (imamah) with an emblem (alam). Imam (as) said: "There is no harm in it."

Imam Kazim (a.s): “Is it permissible for me to greet and pray for a Christian doctor to whom I go for a visit whenever I need him?” Imam Kazim (a.s) replied: “Yes, but your prayers are of no use for him.”

I asked Imam (as) about my neighbor who passed away and left behind daughters. Imam (as) replied: "The wealth belongs to them."

“I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about the case of a man in the state of Ihram if he can cover himself. He (the Imam) said, ‘As for from heat or cold, then no.’”

I said to Abu al-Hasan (as): "Can a person leave for Mina a day or two before the Day of Tarwiyah to avoid the crowd and congestion?" Imam (as) said: "There is no harm in it."

“If a group of people enter a town and ask the people if they can stay there and the people turn them down, but they think the residents agreed with their stay and they stay there, they are secure.”

Hadith.1047 - Sahl ibn al-Yas'a asked Abu Al-Hasan al-Awwal (as) about a man who prays a voluntary prayer sitting while he does not have any illness, whether in travel or while at home. Imam (as) said: "There is no harm in that”.

“I once asked Abu al-Hassan (a.s.) ‘Can I read Quran in a bathhouse and have intercourse (in the bathhouse)?’ He (the Imam (a.s.)) replied, ‘It is not harmful.’”

'She should break her fast and then make up for that day later.'"

“Abu Sahl Ismail bin Ali Naubakhti told me that Imam M-H-M-D bin Imam Hasan Askari (a.s) was born in Samarrah in 256 A.H. His mother was Saiqal; his patronymic is Abul Qasim and the Messenger of Allah (s) had mentioned the same patronymic and said: His name will be same as mine, his patronymic will be same as mine and his title will be Mahdi. He will be the Divine Proof, the Awaited one and the Master of the Age. Ismail bin Ali further says: When Imam Hasan Askari (a.s) was in his fatal illness, I was present with him. He summoned his servant, Aqeed, who was a Nubian black. Prior to this he was in the employ of Imam Ali Naqi (a.s). It was he that had brought up Imam Hasan Askari (a.s). Imam (a.s) told him: “O Aqeed, boil for me some mastic water.” Aqeed obeyed and after the water was procured, Saiqal, the mother of Imam Mahdi (a.t.f.s.) brought it to His Eminence. His Eminence took hold of the vessel, but his hands shook so much that the bowl clattered against his teeth. The Imam let go of the vessel and said to Aqeed: “Go inside the house where you will find a boy in prostration. Bring him to me.” Abu Sahl says: Aqeed said: When I went inside to bring that boy I saw that the boy was in prostration and had raised his index finger to the sky. I saluted him. He shortened his Prayer. I said respectfully: “The master has called you.” At that moment his mother arrived and taking his hand brought him to his father. Abu Sahl says: When the boy came to His Eminence, he saluted him. I saw that his face was glowing like a pearl; he had short hair and wide teeth. When the eyes of Imam Hasan Askari (a.s) fell on him, he wept and said: “O master of my family, give me this water, so that I may proceed to my Lord.” The young master complied and taking up the bowl of mastic water brought it to the lips of his father, so that he may drink it. Imam Hasan Askari (a.s) said: “Prepare me for the ritual prayer.” That child kept a towel before the Imam and made ablution for him by washing his face and hands in turn. Then he rubbed his head and both feet. The Imam said: “My son, I give you glad tidings that you are the Master of the Time and the Proof of Allah on the earth. You are my son and successor. You are born from me and you are M-H-M-D the son of Hasan son of Ali son of Muhammad son of Ali son of Musa son of Ja’far son of Muhammad son of Ali son of Husain son of Ali Ibn Abi Talib (a.s) and you are from the progeny of the Holy Prophet (s) and the last of the Purified Imams (a.s). And the Messenger of Allah (s) gave glad tidings about you and informed about your name and patronymic. This was told to me by my father from his purified forefathers – blessings of Allah be on Ahle Bayt. Indeed our Lord alone is worthy of praise and glorification.” Imam Hasan bin Ali Askari (a.s) spoke these sentences and passed away at that very moment. May Allah bless them all.

31. Imam Ja’far Sadiq (a.s.) told Husain bin Suwair, “O Husain! One who starts from his home with an intention of doing the Ziyarat of the grave of Imam Husain (a.s.) Allah would note a reward and wipe a sin for every step taken. If he is on a mount Allah would note down a reward and wipe a sin for every step of the mount till he reaches Kerbala. The Almighty Allah would include him among those who get salvation. And when he performs the deeds of Ziyarat Allah includes him among the successful. When he makes an intention to return, an angel would come and say, ‘The Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s.) has sent his salutations to you and has conveyed that your past sins are forgiven. Now you can have a new start in your deeds’.”

he heard Abul Hasan al-Ridha (as) say: Abu Ja'far (al-Baqir) (as) said: "Sperm in the womb after forty days becomes a clot, and then after another forty days becomes a fetus. When four months pass by, Allah sends two creating angels and they ask, “Oh Lord, what do You want to create, male or female?". They are then commanded accordingly. Then they ask, "Oh Lord, do You want him to be miserable or happy?". They are then commanded accordingly. Then they ask, "When is his term (of death)? What is his sustenance and its quantity?". They then write the covenant (of monotheism) between his eyes. When God's appointed time (i.e. pregnancy) for the fetus comes, He sends an angel to prompt it, causing it to emerge and emerges forgotten about the covenant (of monotheism)." Al-Hasan ibn al-Jahm asked him (Imam al-Ridha): "Would Allah a change a female into a male, or a male into a female, if someone were to supplicate to him for that?". So he said: "Indeed Allah does what He wills".

“There were servants in Abal Hassan Ar-Ridha’’s (a.s.) home who were Slavic and Roman. Abul Hassan’s (a.s.) room was near theirs. One night Imam Ar-Ridha’ (a.s.) heard them say in the Slavic and Roman languages, ‘We used to donate blood once a year when we were in our own towns. However, we have never donated any blood for the many years that we have been here.’ Then when the morning came, Abal Hassan Ar-Ridha’ (a.s.) called in some doctors and told them to take blood from each of those servants. He precisely instructed the doctors as to which of the veins to use for each of the servants. Then he (a.s.) told me, ‘O Yasir! You should not donate blood.’ However, I did not pay any attention to the Imam (a.s.) and donated blood. However, my hand swelled up and turned purple. Ar-Ridha’ (a.s.) asked me, ‘What has happened to you?’ I answered, ‘I donated blood.” The Imam (a.s.) asked, ‘Did I not admonish you against donating blood? Please bring your hand forward.’ I put my hand forward. Then the Imam (a.s.) rubbed his hands on my hand and spit on it. Then the Imam (a.s.) ordered me not to eat dinner for a while. I tried not to eat dinner at night as much as I could. Whenever I failed to do so and ate something for dinner, that pain returned.”

O Abdul Aziz! Belief has ten ranks, just like a ladder that has ten steps. One must climb it step by step.
One who has attained two of these ranks should not say to the one who has only attained the first rank, ‘You are not upon anything (You do not have faith).’
One who has attained three of these ranks should not say to the one who has only attained the first two ranks, ‘You are not upon anything.’
The same thing holds true up until the tenth rank.‘ He (the Imam) then said, ‘Salman was in the tenth (rank), Abu Dharr was in the ninth and Miqdad was in the eighth.
O Abdul Aziz! You should not consider anyone who has attained a rank lower than yourself to lack faith, so that those who have attained a higher rank than you have do not consider you to lack faith. When you see someone who is in a lower rank than you are, kindly assist him up to your rank, and do not force upon him what he cannot tolerate, since you may break him (hurt him) this way. One who breaks (hurts) a believer should help him get unhurt; because if you place the load that you would normally place on a nine-year old camel on a baby camel, you would break its back (and kill it).’”

On the Resurrection Day, God shall raise anyone in my nation as a learned scholar who remembers forty traditions in order to fulfill the needs of the people relating to their religious deeds.”

I said to Abu Ja'far al-Baqir (as): "A man from the Mukhtariyyah met me and claimed that Muhammad ibn al-Hanafiyyah is an Imam." Abu Ja'far (as) became angry and said: "Did you not tell him...? I said: 'No, by Allah, I did not know what to say.' He said: 'Did you not tell him that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his family) entrusted Ali, al-Hasan, and al-Husayn? When Ali (as) passed away, he entrusted al-Hasan and al-Husayn. If anyone tried to take that away from them, they would say: 'We are the trustees like you,' and he would not do that. Al-Hasan entrusted al-Husayn, and if anyone tried to take that away from him, he would say: 'I am a trustee like you from the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his family) and from my father,' and he would not do that. Allah, the Exalted, said: 'And those who are related by blood are more entitled to one another.' This applies to us and to our children."

Abu Muhammad Ubayd Allah bin Yahya bin Abdul-Baqi al-Adni in Adna informed us, saying: Ali bin al-Hasan al-Ma'ani informed us, saying: Abdullah bin Yazid informed us, from Yahya bin Uqba bin Abi al-'Aizar, who said: Muhammad bin Hajar informed us, from Yazid bin al-Asam, who said:
A man asked Umar ibn al-Khattab: "O Commander of the Faithful, what is the interpretation of 'Subhan Allah'?" Umar replied: "In this wall, there is a man who, when asked, informs, and when left silent, he begins (to speak)." The man entered, and it was Ali ibn Abi Talib (as). So he asked: "O Abu al-Hasan, what is the interpretation of 'Subhan Allah'?" Ali replied: "It is the glorification of the majesty of Allah Almighty and the declaration of His transcendence above what any polytheist has said about Him. When a servant says it, every angel prays for him."

“Yahya ibn Aktham asked him (the Imam) questions; among the questions that he asked one was about hermaphrodite and the words of ’ Amir al-Mu’minin that a hermaphrodite inherits according to the manner of urinating and that who must look at the child (the person) when urinating and that the testimony of one who is unfair to himself is not accepted. That perhaps such person is a female and a man looks at her or that the person is a female and a man has looked at her, which is not lawful. Abu al-Hassan, al-Thalith (a.s.), answered him saying, ‘The words of ’ Amir al-Mu’minin that a hermaphrodite inherits according to the manner of urinating, are as they are. People of justice must look at hermaphrodite, each one takes a mirror, and the hermaphrodite stands behind them. They see a form and judge accordingly.”’

“O son of the Prophet of God! Whose shrine is that?” He replied, “It is located in the land of Toos. And, by God, it is a Garden - one of the Gardens of Heaven. Whoever visits me there in that shrine, it is as if he has visited God’s Prophet (S). God the Highest will record for him the reward of one thousand accepted obligatory pilgrimages to the Kaaba, and one thousand accepted ‘Umra (a.s.upererogatory) pilgrimages to the Kaaba. Also my forefathers and I will intercede on his behalf on the Resurrection Day.”

when the time of the demise of Al-Hassan ibn Ali (s) came, he (s) cried. They asked him (s), “O son of the Prophet of God! Considering your position relative to the Prophet of God (s), your rank, what God’s Prophet (s) has said about you, your having gone on the Hajj pilgrimage twenty times on foot, your having divided up your wealth - even your shoes - with God (in charity) three times, why are you crying?” The Imam (s) said, “I am crying for two reasons: fear of what I will encounter (death) and separation from the loved ones.”
