he heard (Imam) al-Ridha (as) saying, “The friend of every person is his intellect and his enemy is ignorance.”

“I once asked abu al-Hassan (a.s.), about the meat of a buffalos and its milk. He (the Imam) said, ‘It is not unlawful to use such items for food.’”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘Do not seek help from a lazy person and you must not consult a helpless one.’”

“I once heard abu al-Hassan (a.s.), saying, ‘Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, hates qil (it was said so), qal (he said so and so on . . .), wasting assets and asking a great deal of questions.’”

“Abu Ja‘far (a.s.), has said, ‘Do not go to bed with a (underage) girl before she becomes nine or ten years old.’”

“A person who has faith on Allah and the Day of Judgment would surely apply Antimony.”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘All water is clean until it is found out that it is not clean.”’

"The grandmother is entitled to one-sixth of the inheritance, whether along with her son or her daughter."

Abu al-Hasan عليه السلام said: of the felicities enjoyed by Ali b. Yaqtin is the fact that I remembered him [supplicated for him] at the Mawqif [the plains of Arafa in the Hajj].

“I once asked abu al-Hassan (a.s.), about a man who because of cold covers his ears while in the state of Ihram. He (the Imam) said, ‘No, he must not do so.’”

I asked Abu al-Hasan (as) about water birds that eat fish, whether they are permissible to eat. He (as) said: "There is no harm in it, eat them."

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘Adhan is said with Tartil (articulation slowly) and ‘Iqamah is said quickly.’”

People are (of) three (types): An Arab, a convert [1] and a disbeliever [2]. As for the Arabs, they are us. As for the convert, it is the one who befriends us. As for the disbeliever, it is the one who dissociates from us and is hostile to us.

H 371 - Sa'ad Ibn Abdullah said: Muhammad Ibn Nusayr an-Numairi claimed that he was a messenger and a prophet, and that Ali Ibn Muhammad (a.s.) had sent him. He believed in reincarnation and exaggerated about the position of Abul Hasan (a.s.) and deified him. He believed in the permissibility of marrying blood relations of prohibited degree (Mahrams) and same sex marriage. He believed that sodomy was an act of humility, meekness and modesty on the part of the receiver and that it was an occasion of pleasure and delight for the active partner, and that Allah does not disallow any of such things. Muhammad Ibn Musa Ibn Hasan Ibn Furat supported the authenticity of these reports.

1. Imam Ja’far Sadiq (a.s.) narrates from his predecessors that the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s.) said, “The deed that is rewarded soon is a good action and the deed punished soon is injustice. The deed is bad enough when a person sees faults in others but is blind as far as his self is concerned and he advises people to avoid sins but does not avoid them himself and if he troubles with useless talk those who sit with him.”

H 89 - I saw a writing of Sharif Ajal Razi Abul Hasan Muhammad bin Husain Musawi dated Sunday, 15th Mohurrum 331 A.H. in which he has mentioned the account of a long-lived man in Syria, who had crossed the age of 140 years. He says: I mounted my beast and went to him and found him after much endeavour. I met him near my house in Karkh and he was a wonder and had met Imam Hasan Askari (a.s), father of Imam Mahdi (a.s). Therefore he described the fine qualities of Imam (a.s). A wonder that was seen is an incident, which he has written in his own handwriting.

“Yes, its reward is that of a Hajj and Umrah and it can be even equal to ten Hajjs and ten Umrahs.”

Certainly, when the orphan cries, the Divine Throne starts to shakes for him, then the Lord Almighty says: "Who is it that made My servant cry, of whose parents I have taken during his childhood? By My might and majesty, no one will comfort him except that I will make Paradise obligatory for him."

Imam Reza (a.s) said: “Imam Hassan (a.s) and Imam Hussein (a.s) were not on speaking terms with each other. Once Muhammad ibn Hanifeh went to see Imam Hussein (a.s) and asked: “Why do you not go to see Imam Hassan (a.s). He is older than you are.” Imam Hussein (a.s) said: “I heard from my grandfather-the Prophet of God- that whenever two break off relations, God will take to Heaven the one who first goes to greet the other one to make up. I do not want to go to Heaven sooner than my brother.” Then Muhammad ibn Hanifeh went to Imam Hassan (a.s) and told him what Imam Hussein (a.s) had said: “He said: “He is right. Let's go to see him.”

"I saw Abu Al-Hasan (as) working in his land, and his feet were soaked in sweat. I said to him, 'May I be your ransom! Where are the men (to assist you)?' Imam (as) replied: 'O Ali, one who is better than me and my father worked with his hands in his land.' I asked him, 'Who is that?' He said: 'The Messenger of Allah (swt) (peace be upon him and his family), Commander of the Faithful, and my forefathers (peace be upon them)-all of them worked with their hands, and it is the work of the prophets, the messengers, and the righteous."
