Imam Baqir (a.s) said: “Concealing faith is necessary in all issues.”

The religion of those who deny taqiyah is null and the faith of those who lack piety is null, too.

Surely, the example of Abi Talib is like that of the companions of the cave, who kept the faith a secret and feigned paganism, so Allah gave them their reward twice.

“ Al-Taqiyyah (protective measures) is for when and wherever needed and the one involved in it knows best how to apply it.”

jurisprudents in Kufa said: “On the Resurrection Day, they shall bring a man with a mouth-piece made of fire. God will tell him: O' My servant! What made you hide your knowledge?” He will say: “O' my Lord! I feared your servants.” God will say: “I deserved more to be feared”, and then God orders him to be thrown into the Fire.” Imam Baqir (a.s) said: “I swear by God that the jurisprudents of Kufa are liars. If this was true, God would have not praised -in His Book- the believer in the family of Pharaoh who covered up his faith for six hundred years since he was Pharaoh's treasurer.”

‘(Imam) abu Ja‘far (a.s.) said to a man from Basra called ‘Uthman al-A’ma who would keep saying, “Al-Hassan al-Basri believes that those who hide knowledge the bad odor from their stomach will cause suffering to the people of hell.” The Imam said, “The true believer of the people of Pharaoh is then destroyed. Knowledge from the time of Noah became veiled (s.a). Let Hassan go left and right. I swear by Allah he will not find knowledge in no other place but here with us.”

‘Beware of mentioning Ali (asws) and Fatima (sa) (in front of others) for there is nothing more hateful to them than the speaking of Ali (asws) and Fatima (sa)’.

“ Al-Taqiyyah is made law to save lives. Once it (danger) is already there to take lives, then there is no al-Taqiyyah .”

“Once I asked Abu al-Hassan (a.s.) about standing up to salute the rulers (to show respect). He said that Abu Ja’far (a.s.) has said, 'Al-Taqiyyah is from my religion (belief) and the religion (belief) of my forefathers, and whoever disregards al-Taqiyyah has no belief.'"

“Abu Ja’far (a.s.) has said, ‘Meet them (unfriendly people) outwardly and oppose them inwardly when the rulers are childish.’”

the people are not absolved (freed of responsibility) unless they ask and comprehend and recognize their Imam and it absolves them to take what he (the Imam) says even if it is in Taqiyya (said in dissimulation).

People can do nothing until they ask, acquire a proper understanding of religion, know their Imam and follow what he says, even if he said it under taqqiyah."

I asked him about a matter so he answered me, then a man came to him and asked him about it so he answered him with a different answer to mine, then another man came …

“We heard abu Ja’far (a.s.) saying, ‘ Al-Taqiyyah is whenever the son of Adam is compelled; Allah has made it lawful for him.’”

“I once asked abu Ja’far (a.s.), about wiping on slippers because of Taqiyah (caution due to fear). He (the Imam) said, ‘There is no Taqiyah (caution because of fear) in three things.’ I then asked, ‘What are they?’ He (the Imam) said, ‘It is drinking wine,’ or he said, ‘Drinking intoxicating liquor, wiping on slippers and Mut‘ah (advantage) of al-Hajj.”’

The women divorced thrice by you (the Shiites) are not legitimate for others, but the non-Shiite’s divorced women are legitimate for you. This is because you do not consider their divorcing thrice to be right, but they consider yours to be right.”

I heard Abu Ja’far al-Baqir (as) saying: “Al-Qa’im (as) disappears before his rising.” I asked: “Why?” He said: “He fears” and he pointed with his hand at his abdomen. He meant “killing”.

Mohammad bin Ali Majilwayh, Allah may have mercy upon him, … In al-Hira during the reign of Abu al-Abbas, Abu Ja’far ad-Dawaniqi said to Imam Abu Abdullah (a) “O Abu Abdullah, I noticed that any individual of the Shia speak out all that he hides in one session so that his trend would be easily known. Why is that?” The Imam (a) answered: This is because of the sweetness of faith that the Shia carry in their chests. For that sweetness, they show the hidden all at once.

I heard Abu Ja’far al-Baqir (as) saying: “Al-Qa’im (as) disappears and his kin (companions) deny him.” I said: “Why is that?” He said: “He fears.” And he pointed with his hand at his abdomen showing that he fears to be killed.”
