Messenger of Allah (sw) said: “Whoever dies without ascribing a partner to Allah, will enter Heaven regardless of whether he has done good or evil.”

Prophets are infallible?” He (AS) replied: “Certainly.” He asked him (AS) about some verses from the Qur`an. Among his questions was: “Then tell me about the Word of Ibrahim (AS): My Lord! Show me how Thou givest life to the dead, He said: What! And do you not believe? He said: Yes, but that my heat may be at ease.”1 Al-Rida (AS) replied, Allah, the Blessed and Exalted, revealed to Ibrahim (AS) that I will choose a friend for Me from among My Servants such that I will even revive the dead for him if he asks Me to do so. It then occurred to Ibrahim (AS) that he was that friend. Thus, he asked, “My Lord! Show me how Thou givest life to the dead.” He said: “What! And do you not believe?” He said: “Yes, but my heart will be at ease knowing that I am your Friend.” Then Allah said: Then take four of the birds, then train them to follow you, then place on every mountain a part of them, then call them, they will come to you flying; and know that Allah is Mighty, Wise.” Then Ibrahim (AS) took an eagle, a peacock, a duck, and a rooster. He chopped them into pieces and mixed them up. He then placed a part of their mixed flesh on top of each of the ten hills in that area. He held each bird’s beak in his hand. He placed some seeds and water near himself and called out to them. The various parts of beach bird started to fly towards each other until a perfect body was formed. Each body went towards its own head and joined it to become a living bird. Then Ibrahim (AS) let their beaks go. The birds flew and then landed. They drank water, ate some seeds, and said: “O Prophet of Allah! You have brought us back to life. May Allah bring you back to life.” Ibrahim (AS) said: “It is Allah who brings back to life and takes away life. He has power over all things.” Al-Ma`mun said: “May Allah bless you, O Abu al-Hasan!” The Compiler of this book says: The tradition is detailed; we have extracted from it the required passage. I have transmitted all of it in the book `Uyun Akhbar al-Rida (AS).

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘A wine addict is like a worshipper of idols.’”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah, Alayhi al-Salam, has said, ‘If one forms a statue, he on the Day of Judgment will be held responsible to blow the spirit in it.’”

“Satan says to his soldiers, ‘Throw unto them envy and tyrannical transgression; in the sight of Allah these two are equal to considering things as partners of Allah.’”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘A wine addict will meet Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, as a worshipper of idols will do.’”

“I once heard abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), saying, ‘A wine addict will meet Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, when he meets Him, as a worshipper of idols will do.’”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.) has said, ‘Whoever obeys a man in a sin has worshipped him.’”

“I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah, Alayhi al-Salam, if a Muslim can inherit from a pagan. He (the Imam) said, ‘Yes, but a pagan cannot inherit from the Muslim.’”

sincere and devoted, not having in it (his faith) anything whatsoever of the worship of idols.

“The Amawides provided people with studies of Islamic belief in generalized manner but did not allow people to study paganism, so that when they might impose it (paganism and evil deed) upon people they (people) would not consider it evil; (the Amawides preached predestination to cover up their own evil deeds).”

“Once I asked abu Ja’far (a.s.) of the minimum amount of belief with which one is considered a polytheist (one who considers other things as partners of Allah). The narrator has said that the Imam said, ‘It is he who calls a nut a pebble and a pebble a nut and considers it his religion. ’”

“I once wrote to abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), and asked about a man who had a piece of wood and sold it to those who make barbat (musical tool) out of it. He (the Imam) said, ‘It is not unlawful.’

“Abu ‘Abd Allah, has narrated from his father (a.s.), who has said that the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, has said, ‘No other thing is more effacing to Islam than stinginess.’ He (the Imam) then said, ‘Greediness creeps like an ant and has branches (or thorns) like polytheism.’”

"Once Rasulullah (sw) sent me to Medina saying, 'Do not leave any picture without effacing it, any grave without levelling it and any dog without killing it.'"

“Verily, Allah is Knowledge as there is no ignorance in Him. Allah is Life as there is no death in Him. And Allah is Light as there is no darkness in Him.”

“Once Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) asked me about the people of Basra and asked me, ‘Who are they?’ I said, ‘They are Murji’a’, Qadriah and Harawriah’ (names of groups of certain beliefs). The Imam said, ‘May Allah condemn such nations of disbelief and paganism who have no basis for worshipping Allah.’” Note: Murji’a were those who did not believe in the true position of Amir al- Mu’minin, Ali ibn abu Talib (a.s.) Qadriah believed in absolute free will and Harawriah was of the group who opposed Amir al-Mu’minin, Ali ibn abu Talib (a.s.).

“I heard Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) saying, when he was asked about disbelief and paganism which one was first, ‘Disbelief is first. Satan was the first to become an unbeliever and his disbelief was something other than al-Shirk (paganism) he did not invite to worship anyone other than Allah, he invited to such worship afterwards and thus, became a pagan.’”

“I once heard abu ‘ Abd Allah (a.s.), saying, ‘My father narrated to me from his father (a.s.), that the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, has said, ‘A wine addict is like an idol worshipper.’ I (the narrator) then asked, ‘What is a ‘Mudmin’?’ He (the Imam) said, ‘He is one who drinks whenever he finds.’”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘If one drinks intoxicating liquor until his life ends he is like an idol worshipper. If one quits drinking intoxicating liquor for fear of Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, He will admit him in the garden (paradises) and give him drinks from exquisite, sealed nectar (containers).’”
