Hadith.3064 - Abu al-Hasan Imam Musa ibn Jafar Al-Kadhim (as) said: "No sacrifice is to be made with any of the domesticated birds."

The Prophet, Allah’s blessings be upon him and his Family and the Commander of the Believers, peace be upon him.

Hadith.3065 - Ali ibn Ja'far asked his brother Imam Musa ibn Jafar Al-Kadhim (as) about a sacrificial animal: if the one slaughtering it mistakenly mentions a name other than its owner, does it suffice for the owner of the sacrifice? Imam (as) replied: "Yes, it is for the one who intended it."

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘In Mina’ begin with slaughtering before shaving, and in al-‘Aqiqah (offering for child-birth) begin with shaving before slaughtering the offering.’”

Hadith.3059 - Ali ibn Ja'far asked his brother Imam Musa ibn Jafar Al-Kadhim (as) about a man who purchases a sacrificial animal that is one-eyed, but he only realizes it after buying it. Does it suffice for him? Imam (as) replied: "Yes, unless it is for a hady (sacrificial offering for Hajj), for it is not permissible for it to be deficient."

We were ordered by the Messenger of Allah, Allah’s blessings be upon him and his Family, with regards to offerngs, that we observe the eye and the ear, and he forbade us from (taking as offering) the kharqaa’, sharqaa’, muqabala and mudabara. The kharqaa’ is the one in whose ear is a round hole. The sharqaa’ among sheep is the one whose ear is cut in two to the extent that it falls to the side. The muqabala is that it is cut from the front of its ear, something that is left to hang in a manner that it is not obvious, like it is a zanma. It is referred to the like of that among camels as muzannam, and that hanging (part) is referred to as ri’l. The mudabara is that this is done to the rear of the sheep’s ear.

Hadith.3037 - In a narration from Ammar ibn Musa al-Sabati: "I asked Abu Abdullah (as) about the days of sacrifice (Adha) in Mina. Imam (as) replied: 'Four days.' I then asked him about the days of sacrifice in other towns. Imam (as) said: 'Three days.' Imam (as) further stated: 'If a man returns to his family two days after the Adha, he may offer the sacrifice on the third day upon his return.'"

By the Lord (azj) of the Kaaba, it is my son. Open the door for him.' They had heated water for him, and he leaned over, drank from it, and later performed Umrah."

If you enter Mecca, then buy dates with a dirham and give it as charity due to what came from you during your state of Ihram for the Umrah. Then, when you are finished with your pilgrimage, then buy dates with a dirham and give it as charity. Then, if you enter Medina, do the same as that.

Jibra’eel descended unto the Prophet, Allah’s blessings be upon him and his Family, and said: O Muhammed, order you companions to ‘ajj and thajj. ‘Ajj is to raise the voices during declaring gratification (to Allah), and thajj is to slaughter the cattle.

The Messenger of Allah, Allah’s blessings be upon him and his Family, sent Badeel bin Warqa’ al-Khuza’I upon a greyish camel, and he ordered him to call out to the people on the Day of Mina: Do not fast these days, for indeed, they are days of eating, drinking and bi’al. Bi’al is marriage and a man’s flirting with his family.

Abu’l-Hasan, the First, peace be upon him, said: The Messenger of Allah, Allah’s blessings be upon him and his Family, said: There should be no feast except in for five: ‘urs, khurs, ‘idhar, wikar or rikaz. As for ‘urs, it is marriage, khurs is postpartum after (having given birth to) a child and ‘idhar is circumcision. The wikar is the one who buys a house, and rikaz is when a man approaches from Mecca.

“I once asked abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) about a man who is for al-Tamattu‘ (advantageous) but does not find an offering-animal. He (the Imam) said, ’He must fast before al-Tarwiyah (eight of Dhu al-Hajjah) on the day of al-Tarwiyah and on the day of ‘Arafah. I then said that he has arrived on the day of Tarwiyah. He (the Imam) said, ‘He must fast three days after the days of Tashriq.’ I then said that transporting people do not wait for him. He (the Imam) said, ‘He can fast on the day of al-Hasabah and two days thereafter.’ I then asked, ‘What is al-Hasabah?’ He (the Imam) said, ‘It is the day he leaves.’ I then asked, ‘Can he fast when traveling?’ He (the Imam) said, ‘Yes, was he not traveling on the day of ‘Arafah? We, Ahl al-Bayt say it because of the words of Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, ‘. . . three days of fasting in al-Hajj.’ (2:196) He says this (fasting) is in Dhu al-Hajjah.’”

I went to see Ja’far ibn Muhammad as-Sadiq (MGB) often. He (MGB) put down a cushion for me to rest on and respected me and said, ‘O Malik! I like you.’ I became happy that he (MGB) was so kind to me and praised God so much that he (MGB) was always either fasting, praying or busy mentioning God. He was one of the greatest worshippers and one of the greatest abstainers who feared the Honorable the Exalted God. Ja’far (MGB) knew a lot of traditions. He (MGB) was very pleasant. A lot of people attended his meetings and benefitted a lot from his presence. Whenever he (MGB) mentioned the name of God’s Prophet (MGB), he (MGB) turned so blue or yellow that even those who knew him could not recognize him. Once I attended the Hajj pilgrimage along with him (MGB). He (MGB) was riding on a camel and while trying to say ‘Labayk. Allahuma Labayk’ he could not utter it and dismounted. Then I said, ‘O (grand)son of God’s Prophet! Do you have to say it?’ Then the Imam (MGB) said, “O Ibn Abi Amer! I am afraid of saying ‘Labayk. Allahuma Labayk’ since I fear that the Honorable the Exalted God might respond in the negative and say ‘La Labayk and la Sa’edayk!.’”

I asked Abal-Hassan Al-Kadhim (MGB), ‘For how many people does the offering of a camel suffice?’ The Imam (MGB) replied, ‘One person.’ Then I asked him (MGB), ‘What abouta cow?’ He (MGB) said, ‘Five persons if they all eat at the same table. ’ I asked, ‘Why is offering a camel enough for only one person while offering a cow is enough for five persons.’ He (MGB) replied, ‘Since there is an issue behind a cow which is not behind a camel. Those who forced the people of Moses to worship the calf were five who were from the same family and ate at the same table. Their names were Azinooh, his brother Mizooyeh, his cousin, his daughter and his wife. These people were the same ones whom the Honorable the Exalted God ordered to offer a cow which they did.’”The compiler of the book - may God be pleased with him - said, “I included this narration here since there was a mention of five in it. However, my own decree on the issue of offering is that one camel or one cow suffices for seven persons, even if they are not the members of one family. This decree is the subject of another narration and it is not contradictory with this narration. In this narration it is stated that the offering of a camel is sufficient for one person, while it is stated in another narration that it is sufficient for seven persons. What would suffice for seven persons would also suffice for one, and what would suffice for five persons would also suffice for one person.”
