Hadith.4846 - Ammar ibn Musa Al-Sabati asked Abu Abdullah (as) about the obligatory ẓihar (a form of divorce by comparison). Imam (as) replied: "It is when a man explicitly intends by his statement to perform ẓihar itself."

“Abu al-Hassan (a.s.), has said, ‘Whoever makes a vow and commitment to fast and then fails to do so, the expiation on him is like the Kaffarah (expiation) for an oath.’”

“I once asked abu al-Hassan, Musa (a.s.), about a man who experiences sexual relation with his wife during a journey in the month of Ramadan. He (the Imam) said, ‘It is not harmful.’”

“I once asked al-Rida’ (a.s.), about a man who makes a vow and then fails to fast. He (the Imam) said, ‘My father (a.s.), would say that he is required to pay one mud (a certain measurement) for every day.’”

“I once asked abu ‘ Abd Allah (a.s.), about a man who makes it obligatory upon himself to fast one month. He fasts fifteen days then something happens. He (the Imam) said, ‘If he has fasted fifteen days he completes (compensatory fast) of the rest but if it is less than fifteen days, it is not sufficient until he fasts one whole month.”’

“About the case of a man who expresses the statement of al-Zihar about his wife then divorces her, abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘Expiation does not apply to his case when he divorces before going to bed with her.’ It was then asked, ‘What happens if he goes back to her?’ He (the Imam) said, ‘If he has divorced her to escape from expiation, then goes back to her, expiation is obligatory for whenever he goes to bed with her, but if he divorced without such intention then it is not unlawful to go back to her and expiation is not due on him.’”

“I once asked abu al-Hassan (a.s.), about a man who is not in the state of Ihram and involves himself in sexual relation with his slave-girl who is in the state of Ihram. He (the Imam) asked, ‘Is he affluent or poor?’ I replied, ‘I am a stranger about his condition.’ He (the Imam) asked, ‘Did he command her to assume the state of Ihram or she did it on her own?’ I replied, ‘I am stranger about it.’ He (the Imam) then said, ‘If he is affluent and knowing that he must not have done so and he was the one who commanded her to assume the state of Ihram, he owes one badanah or if he likes one cow or one sheep. If he did not command her to assume the state of Ihram, he then does not owe anything, regardless of being affluent or poor, but if he had commanded her to assume the state of Ihram and he is poor, he then owes one sheep.’”

a man came to the Prophet, Allah’s blessings be upon him and his Family, and he said: I am to perish! I am to perish! So he said: And what will cause you to perish? He said: I (sexually) approached my woman during the Month of Ramadhan whilst I was fasting. The Prophet then said to him: Liberate a neck (in captivity). He said: I cannot find. He said: Then fast for two consecutive months. He said: I cannot handle. He said: Give charity to sixty needy ones. He said: I cannot find (affordability). He said: Then the Prophet, Allah’s blessings be upon him and his Family, was given ‘irq or mukattal in which there were fifteen saa’ [1] of dates. The Prophet, Allah’s blessings be upon him and his Family, then said: Take it and give it as charity. He said: By He who sent you with the truth as a Prophet, between its two laba’s, there is no household more in need of it than us. So he said: Take it and eat it, you and your family, for indeed, it is an expiation to you.
