“Abu al-Hassan, the first (a.s.), whenever distressed would not perform optional Salah (prayer).”

Everything in this book that is narrated from Ibrahim ibn Abi Mahmood has been transmitted by me from Muhammad ibn Ali Majilawayh - may Allah (swt) be pleased with him - from Ali ibn Ibrahim, from his father, from Ibrahim ibn Abi Mahmood. I have also narrated it from my father - may Allah (swt) be pleased with him - from Al-Hasan ibn Ahmad Al-Maliki, from his father, from Ibrahim ibn Abi Mahmood. Additionally, I have narrated it from Muhammad ibn Al-Hasan - may Allah (swt) be pleased with him - from Sa'd ibn Abdullah and Muhammad ibn Al-Hasan Al-Saffar, from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn 'Isa, from Ibrahim ibn Abi Mahmood.

“Once I asked abu ‘Abdallah (a.s.), ‘Is there any Zakat on Imam?’” He said, “O abu Muhammad, you have spoken an impossible word. Do you not know that both this and the next world belong to the Imam? He can place them as he may want or give them to whoever he may want. It is permissible for him from Allah. The Imam said, O abu Muhammad, the Imam never spends a night without Allah‘s right on him for which He would not ask him.”

Instruct our Shi`a with the ziyara of al-Husayn, for surely his ziyara repels destruction and drowning and burning and being preyed upon by the predatory beasts. And his ziyara is made incumbent upon the one who confesses to the Imamate of al-Husayn as being from Allah.

Dye your hair in such a way that you do not look like the Christians or the Jews.”

“O Ali! Seven things from the sheep are forbidden: the blood, the genitals, the urinary bladder, the bone marrow, the glands, the spleens, and the gall bladders.”

I was present at the place of Ja’far bin Muhammed al-Baqir, peace be upon them both, and a man entered into his place and asked him about «Kaaf Haa’ Yaa’ ‘Ayn Ssaad». So he, peace be upon him, said: The «Kaaf» is Sufficient [1] to our Shi’a; «Haa» is a Guide to them; «Yaa» is a Protector of them; «’Ayn» is Knowledgeable of the people of obedience to Us; «Ssaad» is Truthful in promise to them until He makes them reach the rank He promised them in the depth of the Qur’an.

narrated to me Sufyan ibn Muhammad al-Duba‘i who has said the following. “I wrote to abu Muhammad and asked him about the meaning of the word al-Walija (relied) in the words of Allah, the Most High. “Do you think that God will not make any distinction between those of you who have fought for His cause and have relied on no one other than God, His Messenger, and the faithful ones, and other people?. .” (9:16) I said to myself, not in the letter, “To who does the believers refer in this verse “? The answer came as this. The Walija refers to a person who would be appointed in place of the Leader with Divine Authority. You have said to yourself “To who the believers refers in this verse”? They are the Imams who ask Allah to grant security to the people and He grants their request.”

Abu Abdullah (asws) said: ‘The Rasool (saww) Allah (azwj) had fever so Jibraeel (as) gave to him (saww) a charm. So he said: ‘In the Name of Allah (azwj) I perform incantation on you (saww), O Muhammad (saww), and in the Name of Allah (azwj) I heal you (saww), and in the Name of Allah (azwj) from every disease which has exhausted you (saww), and in the Name of Allah (azwj), and Allah (azwj) is your (saww) Healer. So take it and congratulations to you (saww). [56:75] Nay, I swear by the places of the stars for it would free you (saww) from it by the Permission of Allah (azwj)’. Bakr (the narrator) said, ‘And I asked him (asws) about an incantation for the fever, so he (asws) narrated to me with this’.

The Messenger of Allah (SA) said: “Whoever Allah promises to reward for an action, He will fulfill it. And whoever He threatens with punishment over an action, He may choose (either punishment or pardon).”

The Messenger of Allah, Allah’s blessings be upon him and his Family, said: Take initiative to the Gardens of Paradise. They said: And what are the Gardens of Paradise? He said: To shave one’s male genitals.

“There is no determinism and thee is no relinquishment. Rather, the decree is between the two.” The reporter says: I asked, “What is the decree between the two?” He (AS) replied, “The example of that is of a man who was about to commit a sin. You saw him, and you told him not to do it. However, he did not stop. Then you left him, and he committed the sin. You abandoned him to his sin because he did not heed your warning. This does not mean that you encouraged him to sin.”

I heard Abu Ja’far Muhammad ibn ‘Ali al-Baqir, peace be upon him, reporting that the Prophet, peace be upon him and his progeny, said: "A good act which attracts quickest reward (from Allah) is righteousness, and an evil act which draws close His wrath is to be oppressive. And the worst drawback in a person is that he sees (faults) in others, while he does not see the same in himself, and reproaches others for that which he himself cannot give up, and makes his companions suffer things with which he is not concerned."

“The Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, made certain horses that were kept on a special diet to race from al-Hafya’ to the Masjid of banu Zurayq and three of the selected ones came ahead of the others. He (the Messenger of Allah) rewarded one palm tree with its fruits to the one that came first, one palm tree with its fruits to al-Musalliy (the racing horse which comes second) and one palm tree with fruits to the one that had come third.” Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from Muhammad ibn Yahya from Talhah ibn Zayd from abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), a similar Hadith.”

“For an ailment the Imam (a.s.) would say, ‘O Lord, You have criticized certain nations saying, “(Muhammad), tell them, ‘Seek help from those whom you consider equal to Allah. They are not able to remove or change your hardships’” (17:56) O the One besides whom no one is able to provide me relief or divert the hardships away from me, confer al-Salat (favors) upon Muhammad and his family, grant me relief and divert the suffering from me to those who worship things other than You.’”

“Abu ‘Abdallah (a.s.) has said, ‘Once, Fatima bint Asad came to Abu Talib with the glad news of the birth of the Holy Prophet (sw). Abu Talib said, “Wait for a sabt then I will give a similar glad news except prophet-hood.” The Imam (a.s.) said, “A sabt is thirty years. Amir al-Mu’minin (a.s.) was born thirty years after the birth of the Holy Prophet (sw).”

“Once I asked Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) about the words of Allah, the Most Majestic, the Most Holy, ‘Believers, turn to Allah in repentance, in a Nasuh manner, with the intention of never repeating the same sin.’ (66:8) The Imam said, ‘It means a servant (of Allah) repents from sins and never repeats them. ’ “Muhammad ibn al-Fudayl has said, ‘I asked abu al-Hassan (a.s.) about it (repentance in a Nasuh manner) he said, ‘One repents from sin and then does not repeat it. The most beloved among the servants (of Allah) to Allah, the Most High, are those who are put to trial and who repent from sins.”’

The worst of worshipers is a worshiper with two faces and two tongues. He commends his brother when he is around, and he consumes him [in gossip] when he is absent. When he is given, he envies, and when he suffers, he lets him down.

“Certain angels of heaven look at one, two or three people on earth speak of the excellence and praise of Muhammad and his family and they say, ‘Look the small number of these people, their enemies so numerous, they still speak of the praise of Muhammad and his family, recipients of divine supreme covenant.’ The Imam then said, ‘Another group of angels say to them, ‘It is a favor to them from Allah that He grants to whomever He wants, Allah possesses a great deal of favors.’”

`Ali b. al-Husayn Zayn al-`Abidin (as) said to me, regarding the saying of Allah, “Forgive with gracious forgiveness” (15:85). He said: Forgiveness without blame.
