“They perform [good] deeds and know that they will be rewarded for it.”

“I once wrote to abu al-Hassan (a.s.), and ask about the meat of camels of Khurasan and their milk. He (the Imam) said, ’It is not unlawful.”’

“Abu al-Hassan, al-Thalith (a.s.), would say, ‘I have not used anything for food more inducing illnesses than dried up meat, that is, al-Qadid.’”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘Washing one’s head every Friday with marshmallow plant is immunity from albinism and insanity.’”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.) has said, ‘Whoever debases a believer for a sin will not die before he himself commits such a sin.’”

“Whenever I read al-Hamd (Chapter One of the Holy Quran) for pain, seventy times, it was relieved.”

“I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about how one should take Wudu’ with a wound. He (the Imam) said, ‘He must wash the area around it.’”

“I once asked abu al-Hassan (a.s.), about a man who takes Wudu’ with water of roses for Salah (prayer). He (the Imam) said, ‘It is not harmful.’” (Fatwa best explains this Hadith.)

“Once I asked abu al-Hassan, al-Madiy (a.s.), in writing and asked about al-Fuqa ’ (beer). He (the Imam) wrote to me saying, ‘Do not go close to it; it is wine.’”

“I once heard abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), saying, ‘Marriage becomes lawful with three conditions: marriage with the right for inheritance, without inheritance, and with the right for ownership.’”

“I once heard abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), saying, ‘A wine addict will meet Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, when he meets Him, as a worshipper of idols will do.’”

I heard Abul Hasan Musa ibn Ja’far, peace be upon him, say: "Do not regard your good deeds as too many, and do not consider your sins as too few. Surely, sometimes those little lapses gather together to become many. And be mindful (fearful) of Allah, Most High, in your privacy, so that you are granted to treat yourselves justly. And hasten towards obedience to Allah, and be truthful in your speech, and return the deposits held by you to the rightful owner. These traits are good for you; and do not get involved in things which are not legitimate for they will do you harm!"

‘Isa ibn Ja’far ibn ‘Isa who has said the following: “This is concerning my question before abu Ja‘far, al-Thaniy (a.s.), about a woman who breastfeeds a child for me: if it is lawful for me to marry a daughter of her husband. He (the Imam) said, ‘It is a very good question. It is because of this that people say, ‘His wife has become unlawful because of the milk of ‘impregnating agent’ (husband).’ This is the milk of ‘impregnating agent’ and nothing else. I then asked, ‘The girl is not a daughter of the woman who breastfed her. She is a daughter of another woman.’ He (the Imam) said, ‘Even if they were ten different women, no one of them would have been lawful for you because of being as like your daughters.’”

“(Imam) Ali (a.s.) narrated from the holy Prophet who said, ‘Two kinds of people with great appetites do not become satisfied. A person of great appetite for the worldly gains and a person with great appetite for knowledge. In the matters of the worldly gains if one would limit himself to what Allah has made lawful form him he is saved and if one would accumulate such gains in unlawful ways he is destroyed unless he repents and changes his ways. In the matters of knowledge if one would acquire it from the people of knowledge and practice accordingly he is saved and if one would use it for the worldly gains then that is what one gets.’”
