"A woman is entitled to a share of the blood money (diyyah) of her husband, and a man is entitled to a share of the blood money of his wife, as long as neither of them has killed the other."

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that Ali (a.s.), would make the son of a brother to inherit the share of his father with a grandfather.’”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that ’ Amir al-Mu’minin would say, ‘An heir who has an ordained share is more deserving of the legacy.’”

He asked Abu Abdullah (as) about a boy being married to a girl - do they inherit from one another? Imam (as) said: "If it was their parents who arranged their marriage, then yes, they do inherit from each other."

Hadith.5734 - In the narration of Ibn Muskan from Sulayman ibn Khalid, Abu Abdullah (as) said: "When a man died and had a slave woman as his wife, Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib (as) would purchase her from his wealth, free her, and then grant her inheritance."

“I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about the case of a man who has killed his mother; if he can inherit her. He (the Imam) said, ‘I heard my father (a.s.), saying, “Whoever of the relatives kills one of his relatives he cannot inherit from that relative.’””

Hadith.5731 - Abu Abdullah Imam Jafar ibn Muhammad Al-Sadiq (as) said that Commander of the Faithful (as) used to say regarding a free man who dies while his mother is a slave: "She should be purchased from the wealth of her son, then freed, and then she will inherit from him."

"To whom does his blood money (diyyah) go?" Imam (as) said: "It is taken and placed in the treasury (Bayt Al-Mal) of the Muslims because his liability falls upon the treasury of the Muslims."

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that about the case of a free man who dies and leaves behind his mother who is owned by someone, Amir al-Mu’minin would say, ‘She is bought with the legacy of her son, then is set free and made to inherit her son.’”

“’Amir al-Mu’minin (a.s.), issued a judgment about the wergild of one slain that the heirs inherit from it according to the book of Allah their shares if there is no debt on the deceased except the brothers and sisters from the mother’s side who do not inherit from the wergild anything.’”

I asked Imam Jafar ibn Muhammad Al-Sadiq (as) about two groups of believers - one of them being rebellious (baghiyah) and the other just (Adilah) - who fought each other. A man from the people of Iraq, belonging to the rebellious group, killed his father, son, brother, or close relative during the battle and was also his heir. I asked: "Does he inherit from him?" Imam (as) replied: "Yes, because he killed him rightfully."

"The Commander of the Faithful (as) ruled regarding the blood money (diyyah) of a murdered person that it is to be inherited by the heirs according to the Book of Allah (swt), the Exalted, and according to their prescribed shares, provided the murdered person has no outstanding debt. However, the maternal brothers and sisters do not inherit anything from the blood money."

“I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about the slave who is freed in the manner of Sa’ibah (unconditionally freed slave). He (the Imam) said, ‘He is free to choose a guardian whoever he likes to bail out his liabilities due to crime and then inherit his legacy. ’I then asked, ‘What happens if he remains quiet until he dies?’ He (the Imam) said, ‘His legacy is placed in the treasury of the Muslims.’”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that ’ Amir al-Mu’minin, about the case of a free man who dies leaving behind his mother who is owned by someone, has said that she is bought with money from the legacy of her son, then is set free and then she is made to inherit him.’”

I wrote to Abu Al-Hasan (as) about a man who died and had a debt, leaving nothing except a pledged item in the possession of someone. The value of the pledge did not exceed the creditor's due amount. I asked whether the creditor could take it for his claim or if all creditors shared in it. Imam (as) wrote: "All creditors are equal in this matter and must distribute it among themselves in proportion to their claims." He further said: I wrote to Imam (as) about a man who died, leaving heirs. Then someone came forward, claiming a debt against him and that he held a pledge for it. Imam (as) wrote: "If he has a claim against the deceased but has no evidence for it, he may take his due from what is in his possession and return the remainder to the heirs. However, if he admits to what he possesses, he is bound by it and must provide evidence for his claim. He must fulfill his right after swearing an oath. If he cannot provide evidence and the heirs deny the claim, then the heirs must take an oath of knowledge, swearing by Allah (swt) that they have no knowledge of any right owed to him by their deceased."

"The shares of inheritance are from six portions: two-thirds is four portions, half is three portions, one-third is two portions, one-fourth is one and a half portions, and one-eighth is three-fourths of a portion. No one inherits alongside the children except the parents, the husband, and the wife. The mother is not prevented from receiving one-third except by the presence of children or siblings. The husband's share does not exceed half, nor is it reduced from one-fourth. The wife's share does not exceed one-fourth, nor is it reduced from one-eighth. If there are four wives or fewer, they share equally. Siblings from the mother do not inherit more than one-third and are not given less than one-sixth, and in this, males and females are equal. They are not prevented from receiving one-third except by the presence of children or the father. Blood money (diyyah for accidental death) is distributed among those who inherit the estate."
