“About the case of a man who marries a virgin woman, abu ‘ Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘He must stay with her for seven days.’”

Regarding the marriage of ‘Umm Kulthum, he said: "It was an honour coerced from us."

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘Do you not fear, when looking at women’s behind, for your women being looked in the same way.’”

“Inviting (people for food) is not obligatory except for four occasions. Such occasions are: weddings, the birth of a child, circumcisions, and returning from a journey.’”

"If the father and the grandfather both arrange the marriage, the marriage arranged by the first one will take precedence. However, if both arranged the marriage simultaneously, then the grandfather has greater authority."

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘It is not unlawful for a man to look at her face and hands to wrists, if he wants to marry her.’”

“Once, abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), was asked about the case of a man to whom another man owed a certain amount of debts. He held al-Rahn (security deposit) if he could buy al-Rahn (security deposit). He (the Imam) said, ‘Yes, he can do so.’”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that when the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, married Maymunah, daughter of al-Harith, he served food to people and it was mashed dates with the stones removed, with ghee.’”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘Witness and testimony (for marriage) is only for the sake of children and inheritance.’ In another Hadith it is said, ‘and it is for the sake of criminal issues.’”

Perhaps it is created from one of them or perhaps from both of them together.’”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘Once a man came to the Holy Prophet, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, and complained about his financial condition. He (the Messenger of Allah) told him to become married and he did so after which he became affluent.’”

“I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about the case of a man who divorces his wife and dies before the end of her waiting period. He (the Imam) said, ‘She must count her waiting period according to the longer of the two periods of time.’”

“I or a certain persons of our people asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about the case of a man who presents testimony for his wife. He (the Imam) said, ‘If it is for a good cause it is permissible to testify for one’s wife.’”

“Abu Ja‘far (a.s.), has said, ‘It is not unlawful to withdraw before semen discharge from the woman who is free, if he likes even if she may not like. She does not have any say in it.’”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘If both father and grandfather give in marriage, the first one’s marriage is effective and if both happens at the same time, the grandfather has the priority.’”

“About the case of a man who marries a woman with the condition that he will not take her out of her town, abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘He must keep that promise’ or that he (the Imam) said, ‘It is binding upon him.’”

“Abu Ja‘far (a.s.), has said, ‘Once a man came to the Holy Prophet, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, requesting instruction for getting married. The Messenger of Allah said to him, ‘You must marry one who is religious beyond questions.’”

Hadith.4478 - Imam Abu Abdullah (as) was asked about a man who married a Dhimmi woman (non-Muslim under Muslim protection) while already married to a Muslim woman. Imam (as) said: "They should be separated, and he should be given one-eighth of the prescribed punishment, which amounts to twelve and a half lashes. However, if the Muslim woman consents to it, he should still receive one-eighth of the punishment, but they should not be separated." I asked: "How is half a lash administered?" Imam (as) replied: "The whip is held by its middle, and he is struck with it."

“I once asked abu Ja‘far (a.s.), about the case of a man who marries a woman and who says that she is pregnant and that she is his sister because of breastfeeding and that she has not completed her waiting period. He (the Imam) said, ’If he has gone to bed (engaged in sexual intercourse) with her, he must not accept her words but if he has not done so, he must investigate if he did not know before.’”

I asked Abu Ja'far Imam Muhammad ibn Ali Al-Baqir (as) about a man who married a woman, and she told him, "I am pregnant," or "I am your sister through breastfeeding," or "I am still in my waiting period (iddah)." Imam (as) said: "If he has already been intimate with her and consummated the marriage, he should not believe her. But if he has not been intimate with her and has not consummated the marriage, then he should take precaution and inquire if he was not aware of her situation beforehand."
