“I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about how a badanah is slaughtered. He (the Imam) said, ‘It is slaughtered from its right side when standing.’”

the prophet صلى الله عليه وآله had prohibited that the meat of the sacrificed animals (in the Id festival) be kept for more than three days because of the prevailing need, as for today then there is no harm in doing so.

The witness is Friday, and that which is to be witnessed is the Day of Arafah.

“This is about the words of Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, ‘In cattle there are benefits for you for an appointed time.’ (22:34) Abu ‘ Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that of such benefits are using them for transportation without harshness or milking them, if applicable, without draining everything in their udder.”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, prohibited us from the meat of offering after three days then he granted permission, saying ‘Eat of the meat of offerings after three days and preserve.’”

Jibra’eel descended unto the Prophet, Allah’s blessings be upon him and his Family, and said: O Muhammed, order you companions to ‘ajj and thajj. ‘Ajj is to raise the voices during declaring gratification (to Allah), and thajj is to slaughter the cattle.

“I once asked abu Ja‘far (a.s.), about the case of a badanah that gives birth; if it is permissible to milk it. He (the Imam) said, ‘You can milk it without harming its young. You then can slaughter both of them.’ I asked, ‘Can its milk be used for drinking?’ He (the Imam) said, ‘Yes, you can do so and give to others.’”

“Abu Ja’far (a.s.), has said that the Messenger of Allah (sw), said to a man from al-Ansar, For every pebble you throw on al-Jamar, ten good deeds will be written for you (every year) for the rest of your life.’

“You should not tax four things: slaughtering; burial; buying slaves; and traveling to Mecca.”

“I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about the meat of offering animals. He (the Imam) said, ‘Ali ibn al-Husayn and abu Ja‘far, ‘Alayhim al-Salam, would give one-third as charity to their neighbors, one-third to those who ask and beg and kept one-third for their household.’”

“I once asked abu ‘ Abd Allah (a.s.), about a man who sends an animal for offering with a people, sets the time when they mark their animals for offering and assuming the state of Ihram. He (the Imam) said, ‘At such time all things unlawful for them become unlawful for him until the animal for offering reaches its destination.’ I then asked, ‘What will happen if they cannot reach in the appointed time which is set up?’ He (the Imam) said, ‘He must not become as one not in the state of Ihram on the appointed day which he has set up with them.’”

The offering of a cow or a camel would be accepted from seven people whether they be from the same family or not.”

“I once asked abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) about the decorating and placing something around the neck of the offering animal. He (the Imam) said, ‘It is not important whichever you did.’ I asked about marking the offering animal. He said, ‘Yes, mark it on its right side.’ I asked, ‘When should I do it?’ He said, ‘Do it when you want to assume the state of Ihram.”’

Perform pilgrimage to Allah.

“Abu ‘Abd Allah, Alayhi al-Salam, has said, ‘ Aqiqah is not like the animal offering for al-Hajj. The fat one is better for Aqiqah.’”

There will be no Reckoning by God for whoever goes on the Hajj pilgrimage ten times.”

I asked him about tafath, so he said: It is to shave and what is in the skin of a person.

Abu’l-Hasan, the First, peace be upon him, said: The Messenger of Allah, Allah’s blessings be upon him and his Family, said: There should be no feast except in for five: ‘urs, khurs, ‘idhar, wikar or rikaz. As for ‘urs, it is marriage, khurs is postpartum after (having given birth to) a child and ‘idhar is circumcision. The wikar is the one who buys a house, and rikaz is when a man approaches from Mecca.

A person who has gone on the Hajj pilgrimage for twenty times will not see Hell nor will he hear its roaring sounds.”

“Nothing is better than the following five on the day of Eid ul-Azha: offering (an animal); visiting one’s parents; re-establishing ties of kinship with those relatives with whom such ties are broken and being kind to them, greeting them and assisting them with one’s extra income; eating some of one’s own offering and feeding the rest to the orphans, the needy, the slaves and the helpless neighbors; visiting imprisoned persons and being kind to them.”
