I asked Ja`far ibn Muhammad (AS), “Is it permissible for you to say: Verily, Allah, the Mighty and High, is in a place?” Thus, he (AS) replied, “Glory be to Allah, and Exalted be He, from that! Verily, if He were subjected to space, He would have been caused since anything that exists in a place is in need of space. Anything that is in need of space is accidental, because the Eternal has no needs.

The Prophet (saw) said to me: "O Salman, when you wake up in the morning, say: 'O Allah, You are my Lord, there is no partner for You. We have entered the morning, and the kingdom belongs to Allah, there is no partner for Him.' Say it three times. And when you enter the evening, say the same, for they will atone for the sins committed between them."

I was at the place of the Prophet, Allah’s blessings be upon him and his Family, and then Ali bin Abi Talib, peace be upon him, approached, and he said: This is the Master of the Arabs. Then I said: O Allah’s Messenger, are you not the Master of the Arabs? He said: I am the Master of the sons of Adam, and Ali is the Master of the Arabs. I said: And what is a Master? He said: The one to whom obedience is made obligatory, like how obedience to me is made obligatory.

I said to Abu Abdillah, peace be upon him: Indeed, upon me is much debt, and I have children and am not able to perform the pilgrimage, so teach me a prayer that I pray with. So he said: Say at the end of every prescribed prayer: «O Allah, send Your blessings upon Muhammed and the Family of Muhammed, and clear me of the debt of this world and the debt of the Hereafter». Then I said to him: As for the debt of this world, I have known it, so what is the debt of the Hereafter? He said: The debt of the Hereafter is pilgrimage.

Qudamah ibn Muhraz al-Ashja’I related to me that Makhramah ibn Bukayr ibn `Abd Allah ibn al-Ashajj, on the authority of his father, on the authority of Abu Harb ibn Zayd ibn Khalid al-Juhani related to me that I bear witness on my father, Zayd ibn Kahlid, that I heard him say: The Messenger of Allah (sw) sent me on my way saying, “Give glad tidings to the people that whoever says, `There is no god but Allah, Alone, who has no partners’ will have Heaven as his reward.”

I was with the Messenger of Allah (s) and `Ali b. Abi Talib came forward. So, he said: This is the Master of the Arabs. So, I said: O Messenger of Allah! Are you not the Master of the Arabs? He said: I am the Master of the Children of Adam, and `Ali is the Master of the Arabs. So, I said: What is a Master? He said: One to whom obedience is made obligatory; just as obedience to me was made obligatory.

Prophet (S) never made any mistakes when saying his prayers.” The Imam (a.s.) said, “May God damn them! They lie. The Only One who makes no mistakes is God - the One and Only.” Abi Salt al-Harawi added, “O son of the Prophet of God! There are people among them who think that Al-Husayn ibn Ali (a.s.) was not killed and God made someone else called Handhala ibn As’ad ash-Shami look like him (and be killed). And He raised Jesus (a.s.) - the son of (the Blessed Lady) Mary (a.s.) and the reason they present is by using the following verse, ‘…And never will God grant to the unbelievers a way (to triumphs)over the believers.’” The Imam (a.s.) replied, “They are lying. God’s Wrath and Curse be upon them! They have disbelieved in God by denying what the Prophet (S) has said about Al-Husayn ibn Ali (a.s.) being killed, ‘I swear by God that Al-Husayn ibn Ali (a.s.) will be killed.’ There is no doubt that Al-Husayn ibn Ali (a.s.) has been killed. Even the ones better than Al-Husayn ibn Ali (a.s.) - that is (Ali) the Commander of the Faithful (a.s.) and Al-Hassan ibn Ali (a.s.) were killed. There is no one of us who does not get killed. I swear by God that I will also be killed by being poisoned by a tricky unmanly person. I know this from the Trusted Covenant which we have inherited from God’s Prophet (S) that Gabriel delivered to him (a.s.) on behalf of the Lord of the Two Worlds. And the verse stated by the Honorable the Exalted God, ‘…And never will God grant to the unbelievers a way (to triumphs) over the believers’ provides the proof. This means that God has not granted the unbelievers any proofs superior to those of the believers. There is no doubt that the Honorable the Exalted God has informed us that the unbelievers have unrightfully killed the Divine Prophets without having any proofs or reasons. Thus God has not left any ways for them to have any proofs against His Prophets (a.s.).”The author of this book (Sheikh al-Sadooq) said, “I have recorded whatever has been narrated on the subjects of exaggerators and those who believe in turning over the affairs in the book Ibtal al-Ghuluw wal Tafweedh.”

Bring me some water.” They said, “We have no water.” He (a.s.) dug the ground with his hands and water started to flow out. He and those with him all made their ablutions with that water. The water is still there today. When they entered Sanabad he faced the hill from which they make stone pots and said, “O God! Please grant benefits by it. Bless whatever they place there and whatever they build from it.”Then he ordered a few stone pots to be built from that hill for him and said, “Please do not make any food for me unless you cook it in these pots.” He (a.s.) used to eat very little. He also ate simple food. The people were thus guided towards him and the blessing of his prayers became apparent from that hill. Then he went to the house of Hamid ibn Qahtaba al-Ta’ee. He went to the grave in which Harun Al-Rashid was buried. Then he drew a line next to it and said, “This is my grave. I will be buried here. God will establish this place to be the place where my followers and friends will come and go. By God, whoever visits me and sends greetings upon me will be certainly forgiven by God. He will benefit from God’s Mercy due to our intercession - the intercession of the Members of the Holy Household.” Then he turned towards the Qibla and said prayers and supplications. Then he prostrated for a long time. I counted. He praised the Glory of God for five hundred times. Then he stopped.

The Messenger of Allah (s) said: No worshiper will have believed until I am more beloved to him than himself, and my family is more beloved to him than his family, and my progeny is more beloved to him than his progeny, and my essence is more beloved to him than his essence. He said: So, a man from the community said: O Aba `Abd al-Rahman! You did not stop from bringing this hadith by which Allah has enlivened our hearts.

I heard Abu Abdillah, peace be upon him, say: The one who takes his knowledge as a livelihood, will become poor. So I said to him: May I be sacrificed for you, indeed, among your Shi’a and befrienders there are people who carry your sciences and spread them among your Shi’a, and they are not being prevented for that, from them, of goodness, connection and generosity. Then he, peace be upon him, said: Those are not ones who take it as a livelihood. The one who takes his knowledge as a livelihood is only the one who issues verdicts without knowledge nor guidance from Allah, Exalted and Glorious is He, with the purpose of invalidating rights out of greedy for the wracks of this world.

I asked Ibn Abbas about the faster: Is it permissible for him to perform blood-letting? He said: Yes, as long as he does not fear weakness for himself. He said: So does blood-letting negate his fast? He said: No. So I said: Then what is the meaning of the saying of the Prophet, Allah’s blessings be upon him and his Family, when he saw one who performed blood-letting during the Month of Ramadhan: «The one carrying out the blood-letting, and the one to whom the blood-letting is done, have broken the fast»? He said: They only fasted because they verbally insulted each other and lied in their verbal insult against Allah’s Messenger, Allah’s blessings be upon him and his Family, not due to the blood-letting.

The Messenger of Allah, Allah’s blessings be upon him and his Family, said: There will come upon my nation that which came upon the sons of Isra’eel, equal by equal. They were, indeed, divided into seventy-two sects, and my nation will be divided into seventy-three sects; they will add one above those. All of them are to be in the Fire, except for one. He said: It was said: O Messenger of Allah, and what is that one? He said: It is what we are upon today, me and my companions.

I heard the Messenger of Allah (s) say: I am the master of the former and the latter peoples. `Ali b. Abi Talib is the Master of Deputies. He is my brother, my inheritor, and my vicegerent (khalifa) over my Nation. His wilaya is obligatory. Following him is a virtue. Loving him is a way to Allah. His party is the Party of Allah, his Shi`a are the supporters of Allah, his friends are the friends of Allah, and his enemies are the enemies of Allah. He is the Imam of the Muslims, the Master of the Believers and their emir after me.

And He it is who created heaves and the earth in six days, and His Empyrean was on the water, that He might try you, which of you is the best in action. He thus, (AS) replied, Verily, Allah the Blessed and Exalted, created the Empyrean, the water, and the angels before the creation of heavens and the earth. The angels use to ponder over the existence the Empyrean, the existence of the water, and the existence of Allah, the Mighty and High. Then He place His Empyrean over the water to make His Omnipotence evident to the angels so that they may know that He had power over all things. He then raised the Empyrean by means of His Omnipotence, moving it and placing it over the seven heavens. He created the heavens and the earth in six days, while He was in possession of the Empyrean. Although He has the power of creating them in the blink of an eye, He, the Mighty and High, created them over six days to show to the angels that He was creating, one after another, so that they could ponder over what Allah, exalted be His Remembrance, brought about in stages. Allah did not create the Empyrean because He was in need of it. On the contrary, He is Self-Sufficient without any need for the Empyrean and of anything He has created. He is not subject to location within the Empyrean, because He does not possess a body. Exalted is Allah, the Elevated and high, from the attributes of is Creation! As for His Word, the Mighty and High: that He might try you, which of you is best in action. Sao verily, He, the Mighty and High, crated His Creation to try them through His Obedience, and His service, and not for the sake of trial and experiment, because He has always been the All-knowing of Everything. Al-Ma’mum said: “You have relieved me. May Allah relive you!”

“Those who startled the Prophet’s she-camel upon his return from the Battle of Tabuk8 were the following fourteen: Abul Sharur, Abul Davahi, Abul Ma’azif and his father, Talha, Sa’ed ibn Abi Vaqas, Abu Ubayda, Abul Oar, Al-Muqayrih, Salim - the servant of Ibn Haziqat, Khalid ibn Valid, Amr ibn As, Abu Musa al-Ash’ari, and Abdul Rahman ibn Oaf. They are the ones about whom the Honorable the Exalted God revealed the following, ‘…and they meditated a plot which they were unable to carry out:’”

All people, the one who misses the sun, let him adhere to the moon, and the one who misses the moon, let him adhere to Zuhra, and the one who misses Zuhra, let him adhere to the Two Farqads. It was said: O Allah’s Messenger, what is the sun, the moon, the Zuhra and the two Farqads? He said: I am the Sun, Ali is the Moon, Fatima is the Zuhra and Hasan and Hussain are the two Farqads. So is the Book of Allah; they will not be separated until they come to me at the basin.

I heard Abu Abdillah, peace be upon him, say: Indeed, the Messenger of Allah, Allah’s blessings be upon him and his Family, looked at Ali, Hasan and Hussain, peace be upon them, and so he wept and said: You are the ones considered weak after me. Mufaddal said: So I said to him: What is the meaning of that, O son of Allah’s Messenger? He said: Its meaning is that «You are the Imams after me». Indeed, Allah, Exalted and Glorious is He, says: «And We want to bestow favor upon those who were considered weak on earth and make them Imams and make them the inheritors.» (28:5) This verse goes in us until the Day of Resurrection.

he had heard God’s Prophet (sw) say, “Indeed the nation of Moses (as) divided up into seventy-one sects after him. One sect shall be saved and the other seventy sects will go to Hell. The nation of Jesus (as) divided up into seventy-two sects after him. One sect shall be saved and the other seventy-one sects will go to Hell. My nation will be divided up into seventy-three sects after me. One sect will be saved and the other seventy-two sects will go to Hell.”

The Messenger of Allah, Allah’s blessings be upon him and his Family, said: The one who performs a sin or gives refuge to a sinner, upon him is the curse of Allah, the Angels and the people, all of them. Ransom and disbursal will not be accepted from him on the Day of Resurrection. It was said: O Messenger of Allah, what is the sin? He said: The one who kills a soul for other than (the cause of) another soul, mutilates for other than retaliation, invents an innovation with other than a tradition or seizes a prey of value. He said: Then it was said: What is the ransom, O Messenger of Allah? He said: Redemption. He said: Then it was said: What is the dispursal, O Messenger of Allah? He said: Repentance.

I was with the Prophet, Allah’s blessings be upon him and his Family, and a man passed by whilst saying: «O Allah, I ask You for patience». Then the Prophet, Allah’s blessings be upon him and his Family, said: You have asked for affliction, so ask Allah for comfort. He, Allah’s blessings be upon him and his Family, also passed by whilst he was saying: «O Allah, I ask you for the perfection of the grace.» Then he said: (O) Son of Adam, and do you know what the perfection of the grace is? (It is) Salvation from the Fire and entrance to Paradise. He, Allah’s blessings be upon him and his Family, passed by a man whilst he was praying and saying: «O the One of Glory and Generosity». Then he said to him: «It has been responded to you, so ask.»
