“If there are no people on the earth except two, one of them will be al-Hujjah.”

“I swear by God that Musa ibn Ja’far (s) was extremely intelligent. He knew those who will stop believing in Divine Leadership after him, and not accept the next Divine Leaders. However, he (s) quenched his anger and did not divulge what he (s) knew about them. That is why he (s) is called ’Kadhim.“

Amirul Mo’mineen (as) had said to ibn Abbas: “The Night of Predestination comes every year. In this night all that concerns the year and that will occur is revealed. This matter has guardians after the Prophet (S).” Ibn Abbas asked, “O Amirul Mo’mineen, who are they?” He said: “I and eleven ones of my progeny; divinely inspired imams.”

The Messenger of Allah (s) said to Amirul Momineen (a.s) in his will: O Ali, soon Quraish would unite against you and they would come together to oppress and defeat you; thus if you have supporters, you do Jihad against them and if you don’t, you must refrain from violence and keep yourself secure; since martyrdom would come to you in future and Almighty Allah would curse the one who assassinates you.

the commander of the faithful عليه السلام said: the religion is supported by four: by the knowledgeable person who speaks out and uses it (his knowledge), and by the rich person who is not miserly with his bounty (spending it) on the people of the religion of Allāh, and by the poor person who does not sell off his hereafter for his world, and by the ignorant person who is not too arrogant to seek knowledge, so when it happens that the knowledgeable hides his knowledge, and the rich is miserly with his wealth, and the poor sells off his hereafter for his world, and the ignorant is too arrogant to seek knowledge – the world will recede backwards retracing its steps, so the great number of mosques (at that time) and the multitudes of different nations (who pray in them) should not deceive you, it was said: O commander of the faithful – how should one live in that age? He said: mingle with them outwardly and oppose them inwardly, it will be for a man what he has earned, and he will be with the one he loves, and wait with that for the relief from Allāh.

“O Abu Ali, do you not see the wonders in which we are? Do you not consider the affair of this man (Imam Musa) and relieve us from his worry?” So he advised correctly and guided him to a good deed, saying to him: “Commander of the faithful, I think that you have to be kind to him and to link to his womb relatives. For, by Allah, he has spoiled the hearts of our followers against us.” Harun Rashid responded to his advice, saying to him: “Go to him, remove the iron from him, give him my regards, and say: ‘Your cousin says: I have sworn by Allah concerning you that I will not release you unless you admit that you have mistreated me. You must ask me to forgive your past deeds. There is no disgrace in your admitting (that), nor is there any defect in your asking me for that. This is Yahya bin Khalid, my trustworthy one, minister and head of my affairs. So ask him in as much as I get rid of my oath and you would also be able to return to Medina safely.”’

“Allah the Almighty has revealed from the heaven to every imam his covenant and what he will do. Each imam is to open the seal and to do according to what there is in his covenant.” O people of Shia, this shows clearly that whomsoever Allah wishes good to, will make him among those who believe in the infallible imams (as), whom Allah has granted with dignity, made His choice and preferred to all of His people by making them His deputies on the earth. He has made obeying them as obeying Him when saying: “O you who believe! obey Allah and obey the Messenger and those in authority from among you.” And: “Whoever obeys the Messenger, he indeed obeys Allah.” The Prophet (sw) has ordered the people to follow the infallible imams of his progeny, whom Allah has imposed obeying them upon all the people. The Prophet (sw) has showed that clearly by saying: “I have left among you the two weighty things; the Book of Allah and my family. They are an extended “rope” between you and Allah. If you keep to them, you will never go astray at all.” Allah has said: “…Therefore let those beware who go against his order lest a trial afflict them or there befall them a painful chastisement.” When the Prophet (sw) had been opposed, his sayings had been denied, his ordered had been disobeyed and when his progeny had been deprived of their inheritance and rights and had been wronged then the torment of Allah afflicted the oppressors, their followers and whoever was pleased with their deeds. Allah hastened for them the sedition in their religion. They went astray far away from the right path. They separated and became in different sects with confused opinions besides that Allah has prepared for them the bitterest of torment on the Day of Resurrection. Allah said: “So He made hypocrisy to follow as a consequence into their hearts till the day when they shall meet Him because they failed to perform towards Allah what they had promised with Him and because they told lies.” Allah has made hypocrisy as punishment for ones, who have broken their promise and He has called them as hypocrites. He said: “Surely the hypocrites are in the lowest stage of the fire and you shall not find a helper for them.” If this was the case of one, who broke his promise, that his punishment would lead him to the lowest bottom of Hell so what about those, who declared openly their disobedience to the orders of Allah and His messenger (as) and their oppression towards those, whom Allah had ordered people to obey, to keep to and to be with when He said: “O you who believe! Be careful of (your duty to) Allah and be with the true ones.” It is they who were loyal to their covenant they made with Allah in jihad and in sacrifice for the sake of Him and supporting the Prophet (sw) and assisting his mission where Allah said: “Of the believers are men who are true to the covenant which they made with Allah: so of them is he who accomplished his vow, and of them is he who yet waits, and they have not changed in the least.” What a great difference is between those, who are sincere to Allah, who sacrifice themselves for the sake of Allah and who strive to support the Prophet (sw) and his mission and between those, who disobey Allah and His messenger, who wrong the family of the Prophet (sw) and whose deeds will lead them to the lowest bottom of Hell! This is the end of every one deviating from any of the infallible imams, whom Allah has chosen to be the guides for His people. This is the end of every one denying the imamate of any of them, following else than them and claiming that the right is of else than them because the order of the will and the imamate has been determined by Allah the Almighty and not by anyone of His people; therefore he, who disobeys the order of Allah, will definitely be in the abyss of Hell where the oppressors and the hypocrites will be.

Amirul Momineen (a.s) entered Masjidul Haraam accompanied by Imam Hasan (a.s) and leaning on Salman; and he sat down (in the Masjid). A man with an elegant appearance and dress nicely entered and saluted Amirul Momineen (a.s). His Eminence returned his salutations. He said, “O Amirul Momineen (a.s), I wish to ask you about three things. If you give me correct replies, I would know that those who claimed caliphate before you were false and that their world and hereafter are not safe. If you do not reply correctly, I will know that your path is the same as those who preceded you. Amirul Momineen (a.s) said: “Ask me whatever you like”. He asked: “When a person sleeps, where does his soul go? How does man remember one thing and forgets the other? Whom does a child resemble more, the paternal uncles or the maternal.” His Eminence told Imam Hasan (a.s): O Abu Muhammad, reply to him. And Imam Hasan (a.s) replied to him. The man said, “I bear witness that there is no god except Allah and I have always borne witness thus. And I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah and I have always testified to it. And I bear witness that you are the legatee of the Messenger (s), and one who establishes his proof and evidence (pointing towards Amirul Momineen (a.s) he said, “I have always testified this.” Then gesturing to Imam Hasan (a.s), he said, “I bear witness that you are the legatee of Amirul Momineen (a.s) and one who shall establish his proof and evidence. That is you and the one who proves the prophethood of the Messenger of Allah (s). And I bear witness that Husain bin Ali (a.s) is the legatee of his brother and he is the one to establish the proof after him. And I bear witness that Ali bin Husain (a.s) is the Imam after Husain (a.s). And I bear witness that Muhammad bin Ali (a.s) is the Imam after Ali bin Husain (a.s). And I bear witness that Ja’far bin Muhammad (a.s) is the Imam after Muhammad bin Ali (a.s). And I bear witness that Musa bin Ja’far (a.s) is the Imam after Ja’far bin Muhammad (a.s). And I bear witness that Ali bin Musa (a.s) is the Imam after Musa bin Ja’far (a.s). And I bear witness that Muhammad bin Ali (a.s) is the Imam after Ali bin Musa (a.s). And I bear witness that Ali bin Muhammad (a.s) is the Imam after Muhammad bin Ali (a.s). And I bear witness that Hasan Ibn Ali (a.s) is the Imam after Ali bin Muhammad (a.s). After that I bear witness that that person is the Divine Proof, who is the son of Hasan bin Ali , whose name and patronymic (Kunniyat) will not be revealed till the time he fills the earth with justice and equity, like it would have been fraught with injustice and oppression. And peace be on you, O Amirul Momineen (a.s)!” After that he arose and departed from there. His Eminence told Imam Hasan (a.s), “O Aba Muhammad, go and see where he goes.” Imam Hasan (a.s) went out and returned after a moment and said, “He placed one foot outside the Masjid and after that I don’t know where he disappeared.” Amirul Momineen (a.s) said, “O Aba Muhammad, do you know who it was?” Imam Hasan (a.s) replied “Allah, His Messenger and Amirul Momineen (a.s) know better.” Ali (a.s) said, “He was Khizr.” So far we have only mentioned some reports (on this topic) and if we mentioned all reports narrated through Shia on this subject, this book would definitely become very long. We have only mentioned traditions on this subject accepted by both sects of Shia and Sunni. If anyone wishes to study all the reports on this matter, he may refer to books on this subject. In that case a large number of reports would create certainty.
