“I heard abu Ja’far (a.s.) say, ‘Whoever intends to perform a good deed he should do it without delay; Satan keeps an eye on anything that is delayed.’”

‘‘Allah has a paradise wherein no one is admitted except three kinds of people of whom one is he who judges himself with the truth.”

“I once asked abu ‘ Abd Allah (a.s.), about al-‘Aqiq and which part of it is more virtuous for assuming the state of Ihram. He (the Imam) said, ‘From its beginning is better.’”

“I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about a man who is for al-Tamattu‘ (advantageous); if he can cover his head after shaving. He (the Imam) said, ‘Son, shaving is greater than his covering it.’”

“I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), ‘Is performing salat (prayer) in the house of Fatimah, ‘Alayha al-Salam, more virtuous or in al-Rawdah?’ He (the Imam) replied, ‘Performing salat (prayer) in the house of Fatimah, ‘Alayha al-Salam, is more virtuous.’”

“Of the people suffering most severely on the Day of Judgment will be one who preaches justice but acts otherwise.”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘The boundaries of al-Muzdalifah are from Muhassar to al-Mazemin.’”

“Once I spoke before abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about a man of our people and I praised him well. The Imam asked, ‘How is his Salah (prayer)?”’

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that if a woman demands for divorce in the manner of al- Mubarat (disavowing) it is a divorce only once, because of which he becomes one of those who can propose marriage with her.’”

“I heard abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), say, ‘Wudu’ after Ghusl (bath) is heresy.’”

“I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about how a badanah is slaughtered. He (the Imam) said, ‘It is slaughtered from its right side when standing.’”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘Be kind to your parents, your children will be kind to you, maintain chastity toward people’s women; your women will maintain chastity.’”

“I once heard abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), saying, ‘The water of Zamzam is a cure for all illnesses,’ I think he said, ‘no matter whatever it may be.’”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘Perform al-Hajj repeatedly and al-‘Umrah assiduously (or after every nine days). This expels the burden of poverty and death in wickedness.’”

Hadith.5019 - Imam Jafar ibn Muhammad Al-Sadiq (as) said: A man came to Isa (as) (Jesus), the son of Mariyum (as) (Mary), and said: "O' Spirit of Allah (swt), I have committed adultery, so purify me." Isa (as) ordered a public announcement to be made: "Let no one remain behind; everyone must come out for the purification of this man." When the people had gathered and the man stood in the pit, the man called out, "Let no one execute the punishment upon me except one who has no prescribed punishment from Allah (swt) upon him." Upon hearing this, all the people dispersed, leaving only Prophet Yahya (as) and Prophet Isa (as). Yahya (as) approached the man and said: "O' sinner, advise me." The man replied: "Do not leave your soul alone with its desires, lest it destroys you." Yahya (as) said: "Give me more advice." The man said: "Do not shame a sinner for his sin." Yahya (as) asked: "Give me more advice." The man said: "Do not become angry." Yahya (as) responded, "That is enough for me."

1. [1/-] Rijal al-Kashshi: From Abi Talib Abdallah b. al-Salt al-Qummi who said: I entered in to see Abi Ja’far the Second [al-Jawad] عليه السلام towards the end of his life. I heard him saying: ‘May Allah grant a goodly recompense to Safwan b. Yahya, Muhammad b. Sinan and Zakariyya b. Adam on my behalf – for they have been loyal to me’, but he did not name Sa’d b. Sa’d. He [Abu Talib] said: I encountered Muwaffaq [a servant of al-Jawad] while leaving and said to him: My master mentioned Safwan, Muhammad b. Sinan and Zakariyya b. Adam supplicating for their good, but he did not name Sa’d b. Sa’d. He [Abu Talib] said: then I returned to him [i.e. the Imam] a second time and he said: ‘May Allah grant a goodly recompense to Safwan b. Yahya, Muhammad b. Sinan, Zakariyya b. Adam and Sa’d b. Sa’d on my behalf – for they have been loyal to me’.

“About the case of a man who marries a free woman and he has a wife who is a slave-girl and the free woman does not know that he has a slave-girl wife, abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘If the free woman wants to live with his slave-girl wife, she can do so and if she wants she can go to her family.’ I then asked, ‘If she did not like to live with his slave-girl wife and went to her family, is there a way for him to bring her back?’ He (the Imam) said, ‘He has no way to bring her back if she does not agree when she finds out.’ I then asked, ‘Is her going to her family her divorce?’ He (the Imam) said, ‘Yes, when she goes out of his house, she commences her waiting period for three months or three cycles of menses then she can marry if she so chooses.’”

“I once heard abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), saying, ‘The Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, distributed the assets captured from the enemy among the Muslims. The share of Ali (a.s.), was a piece of land. He dug a well and water gushed toward the sky like the neck of a camel. He called it Yanbu‘a. A bearer of good news came to him with good news and Ali (a.s.), said, “You must give the good news to the heirs. It is an irrevocable charity and complete for those who perform al-Hajj of the house of Allah and the by-passers. It will not be sold, gifted or inherited. Those who buy or gift it, will be subjected to the condemnation of Allah, the angels and all people; and Allah will not divert it from him or accept ransom.’””

“I once heard abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), saying, ‘Divorce under coercion is not permissible or setting free of a slave. It is not permissible to swear for cutting off good relations with relatives or for a sinful act in disobedience to Allah. Thus, whoever swears or is made to swear about something of this kind, it does not have any valid effect on him. Divorce is what is meant to be divorce, and without coercion or harming in a divorce in the manner of waiting period, according to the Sunnah, in a Hayd (menses)-free period, without sexual intercourse and is pronounced in the presence of two witnesses. If one opposes this, his divorce and oath do not have any valid effect and it is returned to the book of Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious.’”

The Messenger of Allah, Allah’s blessings be upon him and his Family, said: Cursed, cursed, is the one who causes permanent blindness to a blinded! Cursed, cursed, is the one who worships the dinar and the dirham! Cursed, cursed, is the one who has intercourse with an animal!
