"He should not marry without the master's permission, for they have their condition."

Allah (swt), the Almighty, says: "And give its due on the day of its harvest" (Surah Al-An’am 6:141). This means that you take handful after handful and give it to the needy, then to another needy person, until you are done. At the time of reaping, you give a handful after another until it is completed. Similarly, from the fruit that is picked, you give handful by handful until finished. For the guard (over the harvest), you leave a specific wage for their work, and from the palm trees, you leave what is known as ma‘afarah (small dates) and Um J‘arur (inferior dates). Additionally, the guard is allowed to take one, two, or three bunches of dates as compensation for protecting the trees. As for Allah’s (swt) statement: "But do not be wasteful, for He does not love the wasteful" (Surah Al-An’am 6:141), wastefulness here refers to giving away all of it with both hands.

“I once asked abu al-Hassan (a.s.), about the case of one who had a nosebleed; then he blew his nose and parts of it became small segments which came in contact with his water container. Can he take Wudu’ with such water? He (the Imam) said, ’If nothing is visible in the water container it is not harmful. However, if things show in it he must not use it for Wudu’. I (the narrator) then asked him (the Imam) about a man who has nosebleed while taking Wudu’ and a drop falls in his water container. Can he take Wudu with such water? He (the Imam) said, ‘No, he cannot take Wudu’ with such water.’”

“This is about the case of a man who frees his slave at the time of his death in front of witnesses. The price of the slave is six hundred dirham, his debt is three hundred dirham and he has no other legacy. I once heard abu al-Hassan (a.s.), say, ‘One-sixth of him is free because he owns from him three hundred and the other three hundred is for the debt. Thus out of three hundred one-third is his which is one-sixth of the total.’”

Hadith.3478 - Commander of the Faithful Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib (as), ruled regarding a mukatabah (a female slave under a contract of emancipation) who passed away after having paid most of what was required of her and had given birth to a child during her contract. Imam (as) ruled that the child should be freed in proportion to the part of the mother that had been freed and remain in bondage in proportion to the part of the mother that was still in bondage.

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that ’Amir al-Mu’minin (a.s.), has said, ‘You must discipline an orphan as you discipline your own child and deal with him as you would deal with your own child (in matters of discipline).’”

Imam Ali (AS) said, Many an utterance is such that silence is better than it.

Imam Ali (AS) said, Whenever you fear the created [as opposed to the Creator], you flee from him.

Imam Ali (AS) said, Do not risk anything with the hope of getting more than it.

Imam al-Sadiq (AS) said, 'Any believer who is subservient to the ruler or any of his entourage, going against his faith in his bid to secure the worldly things that the ruler has in his grasp, Allah will reduce him to obscurity, render him odious to him [the ruler] and will relegate him to the ruler. And whatever he manages to acquire and possess of the worldly things, Allah will strip them of their benediction.

[Deserving recepients of generosity :] Therefore, to whosoever Allāh gives wealth he should use it in extending good behaviour to his kinsmen, in entertaining, in releasing prisoners and the afflicted; in giving to the poor and to debtors, and he should endure (the troubles arising out of) the fulfilment of rights (of others) and hardships in expectation of reward. Certainly, the achievement of these qualities is the height of greatness in this world and achievement of the distinctions of the next world; if Allāh so wills.

Imam Husayn (AS) said, ‘When Allah with His Generosity and Benevolence made the obligations a duty upon you, He did not do so for a need He has for them. Rather, it is as a result of the Benevolence He has over you - there is no god but He - and in order to distinguish between the bad and the good, and to test what is in your chests, and to purify what is in your hearts.

Imam Sadiq (a.s) said: “Whenever God wills to strengthen Islam and the Muslims, then He will give the riches to those who pay its dues and spend it in a good way. But when He wills to weaken Islam and the Muslims, He will give the riches to those who do not pay its dues and do not spend it in the proper way.”

“One who does not hold himself to account every day is not from us. [Every believer should take account of his actions daily and] if he has done a good deed, he should seek more of it from Allah and praise Allah for it, and if he has done an evil deed, he should seek forgiveness from Allah for it and turn penitently to Him.”

“This is concerning my question before abu ‘ Abd Allah (a.s.), about a man whose son owned a certain amount of wealth and his father was needy. He (the Imam) replied, ‘He has permission to use such wealth for food; however, a mother does not have such permission but she can borrow on her own responsibility.’”

"Kisra sent a gift to the Prophet (may Allah (swt) bless him and his family), and He (sw) accepted it. Caesar also sent a gift to the Prophet (may Allah (swt) bless him and his family), and He (sw) accepted it. Likewise, the kings sent gifts to Him (sw), and He (sw) accepted them."

“Every person has a special angel and an evil one. When you get happy, the angel approaches you, and when you get sad, the evil one will approach you. This is the interpretation of the Almighty God's statement: “The Evil One threatens you with poverty and bids you to conduct unseemly. God promiseth you His forgiveness and bounties. And God careth for all and He knoweth all things.” [The Holy Quran: Baqara 2:268]

Imam Ali (AS) said, You must have contentment, for indeed there is nothing that wards off poverty more than it.

Imam Ali (AS) said, The best person in granting favours is the one who begins by [showing] friendship.

Imam Ali (AS) said, The most learned of people about Allah, the Glorified, are the most fearful of Him.
