Hadith.705 - Ubaidullah ibn Ali Al-Halabi asked Imam Jafar ibn Muhammad Al-Sadiq (as) about covered (roofed) mosques, whether standing (prayer) in them is disliked. Imam (as) said: "Yes, but praying in them does not harm you."

“I asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about the Masjid which was built for a pious purpose. He (the Imam) replied, ‘It is Masjid al-Quba””

“Once abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), was asked about ’Ttikaf. He (the Imam) said, ‘Without Masjid ’Ttikaf is not valid, only in Masjid like Masjid al-Haram, Masjid of the Messenger of Allah, Masjid al-Kufah or Masjid al-Jami‘ and you must fast in the time you are in the state of ’Ttikaf.’”

Hadith.712 - Ubaidullah ibn Ali Al-Halabi asked Imam Jafar ibn Muhammad Al-Sadiq (as) about a mosque within a house, where the owners might wish to expand part of it or move it from its original location. Imam (as) said: "There is no harm in that." Ubaydullah then asked: "Would it be suitable for a place that was previously used as a latrine for a period of time to be cleaned and made into a mosque?" Imam (as) said: "Yes, if soil is placed over it to cover it, as this cleanses and purifies it."

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), once asked, ‘Have you gone to Masjid of Quba’, or Masjid of al- Fadikh, or Mashrabah of mother of Ibrahim?’ I replied, ‘Yes, I have done so.’ He (the Imam) said, ‘No other thing of the things reminding of the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, is left that is not changed except this.’”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), once was asked about Masjid, which is made to also provide shadow, if performing Salah (prayer) therein is undesirable. He (the Imam) said, ‘Yes, it is as such but today it is not harmful for you. Had there been justice you would see how it is dealt with.’ He (the narrator) has said that he then asked, ‘Can arms be hanged in Masjid? He (the Imam) said, ‘Yes, it is permissible; however, it is not permissible in the greater Masjid; my grandfather prohibited a man trimming an arrow in the Masjid.’”

“Once we found lodging in a place. Between this place and the Masjid there were dirty passageways. I visited abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.). He (the Imam) asked, ‘Where have you found lodging?’ I replied, ‘It is the house of so and so.’ He (the Imam) or we said, ‘Between that house and Masjid there are unclean passageways.’ He (the Imam) said, ‘It is not harmful, certain parts of earth cleanse other parts.’ I (the narrator) asked, ‘What happens if I step on wet dung?’ He (the Imam) said, ‘Such things are not harmful.’”

I heard Abu Abdullah (asws) saying: ‘By Allah (azwj)! There is no one from the people more beloved to me (asws) than you are, and that the people have gone in various directions. So among them is the ‘one’ who takes (religion) to his own opinion, and among them is one who follows his own desires, and among them is the one who follows the narration (Al-Riwayah), and you all have grabbed to a matter for which there is an origin. So it is for you to observe piety, and the struggle, and bear witness to the funerals, and console the sick, and be present with your people in their Masjids for the Prayers. Is it not shameful for the man among you that his right is being observed by his neighbour whilst he himself does not observe the rights of his neighbour?’
