"Fatimah {s.a}, peace be upon her, allocated her charities for Banu Hashim and Banu al-Muttalib."

"The charities of the Messenger of Allah (swt), peace and blessings be upon him and his family, and the charities of Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib (as) are permissible for Banu Hashim."

I said: “The Fitra of Allah which He created the people upon” (30:30)? He (the Imam) said: (that is) Tawhid.

“I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), ‘Is charity lawful for Mawali (servants) of children of al-Hashim?’ The Imam said, ‘Yes, it is lawful.’”

He created them upon Tawhid.

“Abu Ja’far (a.s.), has said, ‘Islam is founded on five isssues. It is founded on Salat (prayer), zakat, al-Hajj, Fasting and al-Wilayat (belief in Divine Authority of ’A’immah). The Messenger of Allah has said, ‘Fasting is a shield against the fire of hell.”

"Give Zakat to those from Banu Hashim who seek it, for it is permissible for them. It is prohibited only for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, for the Imam who succeeds him, and for the Imams, peace be upon them."

I asked Abu Ja’far, peace be upon him, about the saying of Allah, Exalted and Glorious is He: «Turning (in orthodoxy) to Allah, not associating (anything) with Him» (22:31) and I said: What is orthodoxy? He said: It is innateness.

“I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about charity which it is not lawful for children of al- Hashim to receive. The Imam replied, ‘It is zakat.’ I then asked, ‘Can they receive zakat from each other?’ He replied, ‘Yes, they can do so. ’’’(This Hadith is best explained by Fatwa).

“One who takes out full Zakat from his wealth and disburses it in the proper manner would not be questioned from where he gathered his wealth.”

“Five people should not be given alms as follows: one’s offspring; one’s parents; one’s wife and one’s servant, since one must pay for their expenses anyways.”

A share is one of eight, due to the saying of Allah, Exalted and Glorious is He: «The charities are only for the poor, the needy, those who work upon (acquiring) them, those with affectionate hearts, the necks (of human beings in captivity to be liberated), those in debt, for the sake of Allah and for the stranded traveler.» (9:60)

‘You can pay Zakat to whoever wants it from Banu Hashim because it is lawful for them. It is unlawful only for the Prophet (sw) and for the Imam after him, and for the Imams, may the blessings of Allah be upon them all.’

“I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), ‘Is receiving charity lawful for the children of al- Hashim?’ He replied, ‘What is not lawful for us to receive of the people’s charity is obligatory charity. One is harmless when receiving charities other than obligatory. Had it been otherwise, they could not even go to Makkah; these waters are all charities.’”

Abu’l Husayn `Ali b. al-Mu`alla al-Asadi narrated to us. He said: I was told that al-Sadiq Ja`far b. Muhammad (as) said: Surely, for Allah there is a region called Vengeance. When Allah gives a worshiper wealth, with which he does not give Allah that which is due to Him from it, Allah will give him land from that region, wherein the money will dissipate and he will abandon it.

I was informed from al-Sadiq, Ja’far bin Muhammed, peace be upon them both, that he said: Indeed, for Allah, Exalted and Glorious is He, there are lands called the avengers. If Allah gives a servant a property which he does not extract the right of Allah, Exalted and Glorious is He, from, Allah will imposition him upon a land of those lands, and he will consume that property in it, and he will then die and abandon it.

The Messenger of Allah (s) said: Whomever washes in ablution, beautifies his prayers, gives the zakat of his wealth, guards his tongue, withholds his anger, repents of his sin, and fulfills the instructions regarding the Ahl al-Bayt of his Messenger will have perfected the realities of faith; and the gates of Paradise will be opened to him.

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that once certain people of Banu Hashim came to the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, and asked him to appoint them for collecting zakat on cattle. Therefore, the share of zakat collectors should be given to them. The Messenger of Allah said, ‘O children of ‘Abd al-Muttalib, receiving zakat is not lawful for me or for you. However, it is promised that I will have the privilege to intercede before the Lord to save from the fire whomever I will choose.’ -Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), then said that ‘by Allah, He (Allah) has promised His Messenger to have such a privilege,’- ‘What do you then think, children of ‘Abd al-Muttalib, when I have my hands on the doorknob of Paradise, will I give preference to others beside you?’ he (the Messenger of Allah) explained.”

Whenever Amir al-Mu’minin `Ali b. Abi Talib (as) was given money, he put it in the treasury of the Muslims (bayt al-mal al-muslimin). Then, he would gather those who were wronged, and he would take the money with his hand and distribute it left and right while saying: O gold, O silver! Do not deceive me – deceive someone else. I give this to others and forbid my hand from it. He would not leave until he distributed what was in the treasury of the Muslims and gave everyone their due right. Then, he would call for it to be swept and washed. Then, he would pray two units in it. Then, he would divorce this world three times; saying after the taslim: O world! Do not present yourself to me, do not make me long for you, and do not deceive me, for I have divorced you three times, and there is no coming back to you.

Abu Abdillah, peace be upon him, said: There is none who possesses money, be it gold or silver, who prevents (the giving of) the alms tax of his money, except that Allah, Exalted and Glorious is He, will constrain him on the Day of Resurrection on a ground that is qarqar and set upon him a balded snake that will seek (to seize) him and which he will move away from. When he sees that he will not be rid of it, he will allow his hand to him, and it will gnaw it like how a radish is gnawed, and it will then become a necklace on his neck. That is the saying of Him, Exalted and Glorious is He: «Their necks will be encircled by that which they were stingy with on the Day of Resurrection.» (3:180) Moreover, there is none who possesses property, be it camels, cows or sheep, who prevents (the giving of) the alms tax of his property, except that Allah, Exalted and Glorious is He, will constrain him on the Day of Resurrection on a ground that is qarqar and he will be stepped upon by everything with a hoof, with its hoof, and it will be snapped by everything that has canine tooth. Moreover, there is none who possesses property, be it palm, grape or plants, who prevents (the giving of) its alms tax, except that Allah will encircle his neck with the noose of his land until seven lands until the Day of Resurrection.
