“Verily, there was once a great king started to discuss the Essence of the Lord, Blessed and Exalted be He. As a result, he went missing, and it is not know what became of him.

I asked Abu `Abd Allah about the Word of Allah, the Mighty and High: And pointed out to him the two conspicuous ways.” He (AS) said; “They are the way of good and the way of evil.”

Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s.) said, “The squeeze of grave for a believer is the atonement for the bounties wasted by him.”

“I asked abu Ja‘far al-Thani (the 2nd) (a.s.), “What is the meaning of the One?” He replied, “It means the unanimity of all tongues in speaking of Allah’s Oneness, as can be found in His saying, the Most High: 'If you ask them who created them, they will certainly say, “Allah!”' (43:87)

Everything in this book that is narrated from Yahya ibn Abdullah has been transmitted by me from Ahmad ibn Al-Husayn Al-Qattan, from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Sa'id Al-Hamadani, the freed servant (mawla) of Banu Hashim, from Abdur Rahman ibn Ja'far Al-Hariri, from Yahya ibn Abdullah ibn Muhammad ibn Umar ibn Ali ibn Abi Talib, peace be upon him.

Everyone’s friend is his intellect and everyone’s enemy is his ignorance.”

“By God! Ar-Ridha’ (a.s.) did not accept this affair willingly. He was unwillingly taken to Kufa, then he was taken to Marv by way of Basra and Fars.”

“No one quarrels except for the one whose chest is narrowed.”

“I was in the presence of Abu al-Hassan (a.s.) after the death of his son, Abu Ja‘far. I thought to myself wanting to say, “Abu Ja‘far and Abu Muhammad at this time are like Abu al-Hassan Musa and ’Isma‘il, the sons of Ja‘far ibn Muhammad (a.s.), and their stories are similar, since Abu Muhammad was the appointee after Abu Ja'far (AS).” At that moment, Abu al-Hassan turned to me before I could say anything and said, “Yes, O Abu Hashim, Allah applied Bada’ (a change in the current natural conditions) in the case of Abu Muhammad after Abu Ja‘far (AS), a fact that was not known for him (Abu Muhammad). In the same way He applied Bada’ in the case of Musa after the death of ’Isma‘il as an issue that through which his condition came to light. That is what you thought to yourself. Even though people of falsehood may dislike it, Abu Muhammad, my son, will be the successor after me. With him is the knowledge that he will need and with him are the signs of Imamate (Leadership with Divine Authority).”

20-5 (The compiler of the book narrated) that his father - may God be pleased with him - narrated that Ali ibn Ibrahim ibn Hashim quoted his father, on the authority of Muhammad ibn Abi Umayr, on the authority of Hammad ibn Uthman, on the authority of Al-Fuzayl ibn Yasar, “On the 21st and 23rd nights of the month of Ramazan, Abi Ja’far al-Baqir (MGB) said supplications from the beginning of the night until midnight, and then started to pray from midnight.”

And whatever is narrated in various reports regarding the legal cases of Amir Al-Muʾminin, peace be upon him, I have narrated it from my father and from Muhammad ibn Al-Hasan - may Allah (swt) be pleased with them - from Saʿd ibn Abdullah, from Ibrahim ibn Hashim, from Abd Al-Rahman ibn Abi Najran, from Aṣim ibn Humayd, from Muhammad ibn Qays, from Abu Jafar, peace be upon him.

The Messenger of Allah (s) said: The Shi`a of `Ali will be triumphant on the Day of Resurrection.

“O Ibn Arafat! In fact, God’s Blessings are like a camel tied up near a river where it rests. The people can gain benefits from it for as long as they treat it well. However, as soon as they mistreat it, it will leave them and they will lose it.”

One silver coin [earned] in usury is more significant to Allah than fornicating thirty times with mahrams, like aunts and uncles.

Whoever supplicates for forty believers before he supplicates for himself, his supplication will be granted for him.

“Once I prayed with abu Ja‘far (a.s.) in the Mosque of Ali-Musayyib. He lead the prayer with us and as to the direction of Makka he stood up facing straight. He also has said that a berry tree that was in the Mosque had dried up and had no leaves. The Imam (a.s.) asked for water and prepared himself under that tree for prayer. The berry tree came alive with leaves and fruits in that year.”

Urinating while standing up without a proper excuse and cleansing oneself with the right hand after defecation are both acts that are harmful to oneself.”

“I admonish you against two characteristics which can ruin men: to worship God with a wrong religion, and to advise people on issues you are uninformed about.”

God’s Prophet (S) said, “The followers of Ali (a.s.) are prosperous on the Resurrection Day.”
