Hadith.975 - Imam Muhammad ibn Ali Al-Baqir (as) said: "Allah (swt), Blessed and Exalted, revealed to Musa (as), son of Imran (as): 'Do you know why I have chosen you to speak to Me over all of My creation?' Musa (as) replied: 'No, my Lord (azj).' Allah (swt) said: 'O’ Musa (as), I searched My servants thoroughly and did not find anyone who humbled themselves before Me more than you. When you pray, you place your cheeks on the ground.'"

I heard a man from our companions say: When Harun al-Rashid imprisoned Musa b. Ja`far (as), night befell him. He feared that Harun may kill him. So, Musa (as) renewed this purification, faced the qibla, prayed four voluntary units for Allah, then supplicated with this supplication: O my Master! Save me from the prison of Harun, and deliver me from his hands, O deliverer of the tree from the sand, clay, and water; O deliverer of milk from excretion and blood; O deliverer of the child from the placenta and the womb; O deliverer of fire from iron and stone; O deliverer of spirit from the intestines, deliver me from the hands of Harun. He said: When Musa (as) supplicated with this supplication, Harun saw a black man in his dream. In his hand was a sword as he stood over the head of Harun, as he was saying: “O Harun! Let Musa b. Ja`far go. If you don’t, then I will strike your neck with this sword.” So, Harun feared his awesome aura, and he called for his gatekeeper. When the gatekeeper came, he said to him: Go to the prison and free Musa b. Ja`far. So, the gatekeeper went to the gate of the prison and knocked on it. The warden answered him and said: Who is this? He said: Surely, the caliph is calling for Musa b. Ja`far, so free him from your prison. So, the warden yelled: O Musa! The caliph calls for you. So, Musa (as) stood suddenly, surprised and saying: He does not call for me tonight except to do an evil thing to me. So, he stood weeping, grieving, worried, and sorrowful about his life. He was taken to Harun shaking, so he said: Peace be to Harun (salam `ala harun). So, he responded, then Harun said to him: I adjure you by Allah, did you make any supplication in the middle of this night? So, he said: Yes. He said: What was it? He said: I renewed my purification, and I prayed four voluntary prayers for Allah, and I raised my sight to the sky, and I said: “O my Master! Deliver me from the hands of Harun and his evil”, and he mentioned what was left of his supplication. So, Harun said: Allah has answered your supplication. O gatekeeper, free him. Then, he called for a robe, and he put three robes onto him, and mounted him on his horse, and honoured him, and regretfully sent him off. Then, he said: Give me the words [to the supplication] so that I may memorize it. Then, he called for a tablet and wrote the words. He said: So, he sent him away, and he surrendered him to his gatekeeper so that he could send him to the house. So, Musa b. Ja`far (as) became honoured by Harun, and he would visit him every Thursday.

Hadith.971 - It is reported that Imam Musa ibn Jafar Al-Kadhim (as) used to perform a prolonged prostration (Sujood) after completing his prayers, and he would not raise his head until the day had advanced significantly.

He said: “When Musa (as), son of Imran (as), prayed, he would not conclude until he had placed his right cheek on the ground and then his left cheek on the ground.”

“I once asked him (the Imam) (a.s.), about a man who performs Sajdah (prostration) on wet growing items. He (the Imam) said, ‘If your forehead touches the ground it is not harmful.’ I asked about stationary grass on the ground and dry leaves while he touches the ground. He (the Imam) said, ‘It is not harmful.’”

Imam Musa ibn Ja'far (as) performing a prostration after the three rak'ahs of Maghrib prayer. He said: "May I be your ransom! I saw you prostrate after the three [rak'ahs]." Imam (as) replied: "And you observed me doing that?" Jahm said: "Yes." The Imam (as) then said: "Do not abandon it, for the supplication made during it is answered."

'O’ Allah (swt), I bear witness before You, Your angels, Your prophets, Your messengers, and all of Your creation that You are Allah (swt), my Lord (azj); Islam is my religion; Muhammad is my Prophet; and Ali, Hasan, Hussain, Ali ibn Hussain, Muhammad ibn Ali, Ja'far ibn Muhammad, Musa ibn Ja'far, Ali ibn Musa, Muhammad ibn Ali, Ali ibn Muhammad, Hasan ibn Ali, and the Hujjah, son of Hasan ibn Ali, are my Imams. With them, I seek closeness, and from their enemies, I dissociate. O’ Allah (swt), I beseech You concerning the blood of the oppressed' (repeating this three times). 'O’ Allah (swt), by Your promise to Yourself concerning Your enemies, destroy them through our hands and the hands of the believers. O’ Allah (swt), by Your promise to Yourself concerning Your allies, grant them victory over Your enemy and their enemy. Send Your blessings upon Muhammad and the Guardians from the family of Muhammad' (repeating this three times). 'O’ Allah (swt), I ask You for ease after hardship' (repeating this three times). Then, place your right cheek on the ground and say, 'O’ my shelter when paths confuse me and the earth, despite its expanse, feels narrow for me. O’ Creator who brought me into existence out of mercy while You were self-sufficient without me, send blessings upon Muhammad and the Guardians from the family of Muhammad' (repeating this three times). Then, place your left cheek on the ground and say, 'O’ One who humiliates every tyrant and grants honor to every humble servant! By Your might, I have reached my limit' (repeating this three times). Then, return to prostration and say 'Shukran Shukran' (Thank you, Thank you) a hundred times. Then, ask for your needs, if Allah (swt) wills." Do not prostrate in gratitude when faced with opposition, and use caution in omitting it.

But I cannot see the marks of the Shia on your faces.” “What are the marks of the Shia?” asked we. He (a) spoke: The Shia are pale-faced because of staying up at nights for offering prayers, bleary-eyed because of fear of Allah, and dry-lipped because of fasting. The dust of the submissive covers them.

I was holding the hand of the Messenger of Allah (s) and we were walking together. We did not stop looking to the Sun until it set. So, I said: O Messenger of Allah! Where does it go? He said: In the sky. Then, it rises from heaven to heaven until it reaches the highest, seventh heaven; till it is beneath the Throne. It then falls in prostration, and the angels of the kingdom of heaven prostrate with it. Then, it says: “O Lord! Where do You order me to rise from: from my setting place, or from my rising place?” That is His saying, “The Sun travels for a fixed term. That is the design of the Almighty, the Knowing” (36:38) – meaning, that is the contrivance of the Mighty Lord in His kingdom with His creation. He said: So, Gabriel (as) comes to it with a garment which glows with the light of the Throne, which is in accordance with the hours of the day – it lengthens in the summer, it shortens in the winter, and it is in between that in the fall and the spring. He said: Then, it wears that garment just as one of you wears his clothes. Then, it goes with it in the sky until it rises from its rising point. The Prophet (s) said: It is as though I am with it as it is confined for three nights, and it is not cloaked in [its] glow, and it is ordered to rise from its setting place. That is His saying, “When the Sun is turned, and when the stars darken” (81:1-2). The Moon is like that from its rise, to its journey to the horizon of the sky, to its setting, to its ascension to the seventh heaven. It prostrates beneath the Throne, and Gabriel (as) comes to it with a garment of the light of the Seat. That is His saying, “He is the one that made the Sun a shining glow and the Moon a light.” (10:5) Abu Dharr (rh) said: Then, I withdrew with the Messenger of Allah (s) and we prayed Maghrib.

“When the Master of the Age fell from the abdomen of his mother, he fell hobbling on his knees, while raising his two forefingers towards the heavens. He then sneezed and said: ‘Praise belongs to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds, and may Allah bless Muhammad and his household. The oppressors assumed that the Proof of Allah has expired. Should we be allowed to talk, doubts would disappear.’”

Hadith.128 - Abu Al-Hasan Imam Ali ibn Musa Ar-Ridha (as) wrote to Muhammad ibn Sinan in response to his questions: "The reason for wudu (ablution), for which it has become obligatory for a servant to wash the face and arms, and to wipe the head and feet, is to prepare to stand before Allah (swt) Almighty, to face Him with one’s visible limbs, and to encounter the noble recording angels with them. The face is washed for the act of prostration and submission. The hands are washed so that one may turn them over in prayer, supplicating with them, expressing hope and reverence, and focusing in worship. The head and feet are wiped because they are exposed, facing all conditions, and do not possess the same level of humility and dedication as the face and arms."

If a worshiper stands before his Lord in the middle of the night, prays four units deep into a dark night, prostrates a prostration of gratitude (sujud al-shukr) after completing his prayer, then says: “Whatever Allah wills, whatever Allah wills (mashaAllah, mashaAllah)” one hundred times, Allah calls to him from above him: “O My servant! How long will you say ‘Whatever Allah wills, whatever Allah wills’?! I am your Lord, and the definite will is Mine. I have decided to fulfill your need, so ask Me for whatever you wish.”

On the Day when there shall be a severe affliction.” He (AS) lifted the clothing that covered his shin, placed his hand on his head, and said: “Glory be to my Lord, the Most High!” The Compiler of this book says; The meaning of his (AS) statement “Glory be to my Lord, the Most High” is that Allah, the Mighty and High, is far Exalted form having human attributes like a shin.

I said, “O Commander of the Faithful! This is not just some attire. It is Musa ibn Ja’far (s) who prostrates every day from sunrise until noon.” Al-Rabee’ said, “Harun told me, ‘He is one of the monastic members of the Hashemites.’ I said, ‘Then why do you treat him with such harshness in prison?’ Harun said, ‘I wish it wasn’t so! I have no other choice.’”

When `Ali (as) went to the Messenger of Allah (s) in the conquest of Khaybar, the Messenger of Allah (s) said to him: If sects from my Nation would not claim for you what the Christians have claimed for the Messiah Jesus the son of Mary, I would have said something about you today that would cause the people to take the dust from beneath your feet and seek treatment from it due to the excellence of your purity. However, it is enough [to say] that you are from me and I am from you. You inherit from me, and I inherit from you. You are to me as Harun was to Musa, except there is no prophet after me. You fight upon my Sunna, and tomorrow you will be upon the Pond as my vicegerent. You will be the first to return to me at the Pond, and you will be the first to be gowned with me. You will be the first to enter Paradise from my Nation, and your followers will be upon pulpits made of light with illuminated faces around me. I will intercede for them, and tomorrow they will be my neighbours in Paradise. Your war is my war, and your peace is my peace. Your secret is my secret, and your pronouncement is my pronouncement. Your peace at heart is like my peace. Your descendants are my descendants. You will encounter my enemies. The truth is with you, and the truth is upon your tongue, in your heart, and upon your forehead. Faith is mixed into your flesh and blood just as it is mixed into my flesh and blood. No one that hates you will return to me at the Pond, and no one that loves you will be absent from it – they will return to the Pond with you. He said: So, `Ali (as) fell in prostration, then said: “Praise be to Allah, who blessed me with Islam, and taught me the Qur'an, and made me love the best of people, the Seal of Prophets and Master of Messengers; as an eminence and a favour from Him.” He said: So, the Prophet (s) said: Were it not for you, the believers would not be recognizable after me.

I asked Abil Hassan (s) about the reward of praying for one who is hung? The Imam (s) said, Don’t you know that my grandfather (s) prayed for his uncle (Zayd)? I said, I know this, but cannot clearly understand how. The Imam (s) said, I will explain it to you. If the face of the hanged person is towards the Qibla, you should stand on the side of his right shoulder. If his back is towards the Qibla you should stand on the side of his left shoulder. Whichever way he is facing, you should not stand away from his shoulders. Your face should be in between the East and the West. You should neither face him, nor should you have him at your back.” Abu Hashem added, “Then Al-Ridha (s) said, God willing, you understood!”The author of this book (Sheikh Sadooq) - may God have Mercy upon him - said, “This is a strange tradition which I have not found anywhere else. I have not found any other narrations of this tradition.”

Indeed, Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He, created the intellect from a stored and concealed Light during His knowledge that has preceded, which has not been observed by any sent Prophet, nor Angel that is brought near. Then, He made Knowledge its inner self, Understanding its spirit, Abstinence its head, Modesty its eyes, Wisdom its tongue, Compassion its mouth and Mercy its heart. Then, He filled it amd strengthened it with ten things: certainty, faith, truthfulness, tranquility, sincerity, friendliness, giving, contentment, submission and thankfulness. He then said to it: «Return» and it returned, and then He said to it: «Come forward» and it came forward. He then said to it: «Speak» and it said: «Praise be to Allah who has no opponent, nor similar, nor resembling, nor equivalent, nor an alike, nor equal, nor an example (like Himself), whom everything is, to His Greatness, is subservient and submissive. Then the Lord, Blessed and Exalted is He, said: «By My Might and My Glory, I have not created a creation that is better than you, nor more complying than you, nor loftier than you, nor more dignified than you, nor more honored than you. Through you I shall be declared as One, and through you I shall be worshipped, and through you I shall be prayed to, and through you I shall be sought, and through you I shall be wished for, and through you I shall be feared, and through you I shall be warned from, and through you shall reward be, and through you shall punishment be. The intellect therein fell in prostration, and it remained in its prostration for a thousand years. Then the Lord, Blessed and Exalted is He, said after that: «Raise your head, and ask, and you will be given, and give salvation, and salvation shall be given through you.» Then the intellect raised its head and said: «My God, I ask you to make me give salvation for the one in whom You created me.» Then Allah, Glorified be His Glory, said to His Angels: «I am testifying you that I have, certainly, made it give salvation to the one in whom I create it.»

I was in the parlor of Abu Ali Muhammad bin Himam seated on a bench, when an aged man with a cloak on shoulders came to us. He greeted Abu Ali bin Himam and he replied to his greeting as he passed on. Abu Ali asked me: Do you know who that is? No, I replied. This man is the servant of our master, Abu Muhammad (a.s). Would you like to hear his traditions from Imam (a.s)? Yes, I replied. He said: Do you have anything to give him? I said: I have two dirhams from legal tender. He replied: That is enough. So I followed him till I reached him. I said: Abu Ali asks you if can return to us? He replied: Yes. So we came together to Abu Ali bin Himam. Abu Ali signaled me to give those two dirhams to him and I gave him the money. That old man said: There was no need of this. After that he took the money. Abu Ali bin Himam said: O Aba Abdullah Muhammad please narrated to us what you saw about Imam Hasan Askari (a.s). He said: My teacher is such a righteous person among the Alawites and I have definitely not seen anyone like him. He mounted a horse, which had black brocade saddle; he mounted his horse Mondays and Thursday and went to the capital at Surre Man Ra. One day when it was his turn to go, a lot of people were present on way to the palace and the lanes and roads were crowded with horses, mules etc. and there was a complete traffic jam. In such a way that no one can move forward. Due to the crowd there was no possibility to enter. But when my master arrived, all the people and animals became silent and animals moved to the side and made way in such a way that there was no need of taking precaution of touching the animals. After that he entered the gathering and sat down at the place reserved for him. Even at the time when he wanted to leave Darul Khilafa he called the gate keepers: Bring the mount of Abu Muhammad [Imam Hasan Askari (a.s)]; again the people and animals became silent and the animals made way to allow the Imam to mount and depart from there. One day the Caliph summoned the Imam and it was disturbing to him and he feared jealousy, slander and tale telling of some Alawites and Hashimites against him with the Caliph. He mounted the horse and departed. When he came to the house of the Caliph, he was told that the Caliph has left his seat and gone away; if you like you may wait for him or return. He returned from there and came to the cattle market. The market was noisy and busy, but when he entered the place even the animals fell silent. The Imam sat down with his agent who used to transact on his behalf. Meanwhile they came and sold a refractory horse to him at a very cheap rate. The Imam said to me: O Muhammad, get up and place the saddle on it. I arose and said to myself: He never orders me to do something that is painful. So I untied the waist band below the belly of the horse and placed the saddle on it. The horse remained quiet and made no movement. When I wanted to take the horse, the agent thought that it has become tame, so he said: It is not for sale. The Imam told me: Give the horse to him. The agent came to take the horse, but as soon as the horse saw him, it fled in fear. The Imam mounted his own horse and set out from there. The agent came to us and said: The owner of the horse says: I fear its return, because if your master knows that it is wild and refractory, he may buy it. The Imam said to me: Give him the money. I understood, the agent said: I have sold it. The Imam said to me: Take the horse. I took it up and took it to the stable; and the horse also, through the blessing of my master [Imam Hasan Askari (a.s)] did not agitate or trouble me. When the Imam dismounted, he held the right ear of the horse and recited something in it and then held the left ear and recited something in that as well. I swear by God, he became so tame that even when I cast grain before him, he just fed on his nourishment without any untoward behavior and it was due to the blessing of my master. Abu Muhammad has narrated from Abu Ali bin Himam that this horse was so wild that it was named as Saul; that is a beast, which kills people and throws down its owner, hits him against the wall and injures him by trampling him under the hooves. Muhammad, the servant says: My master was the most devout among the Alawites. He never consumed grape extract [wine] and remained seated in his place of worship and performed prostration. I used to sleep, wake up and again go back to sleep. He was still in his prostration. The Imam ate very less. Figs, grapes, peach and other kinds of fruits were brought for him, but he took one or two of them and said: O Muhammad, take it for your children. I asked: All? He replied: Take all. I have not seen anyone better than him. This brief sketch was among the proofs and miracles of Imam Hasan Askari (a.s) and if we wanted to mention all of them, it would have prolonged the book. In addition to Imamate, His Eminence was the most noble and kind person of his time.
