Imam Ali (AS) said, When a good turn has been done to you then publicize it.

Imam Ali (AS) said, When a good turn is done to you, recall it.

Imam Ali (AS) said, ‘If an act of courtesy is done unto you, then be sure to remember it, and if you do an act of courtesy unto someone else, then be sure to forget it.

Imam al-Jawad (AS) said, ‘People who perform acts of courtesy towards others benefit more from them than the receptors of their kindness, for verily they have the reward for them, the [rewarding feeling of] pride for having helped someone as well as a mention. So however much good a man may do for others, it ultimately always starts by benefiting himself, such that he never seeks thanks for the benefit incurred by himself through helping others.

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, has said, ‘A recipient of Benevolent Assistance should compensate (the provider) for it. If he cannot do so, he should praise him at least; otherwise, he has refused to appreciate a bounty.’”

“One who thanks Allah after having food is like a person who has fasted. One who thanks Allah for a thing which He has not granted him, he will get the reward of patient ones.”

One who thanks Allah after bearing illness for a night, is compensated for his sins of sixty years.” The narrator asked the meaning of bearing. Imam (a.s.) replied, “Remaining patient during illness.”

"Four things are wasted in vain: Affection granted to one who has no loyalty, A favor bestowed upon one who does not appreciate it, Knowledge taught to one who does not listen, And a secret entrusted to one who has no sense of safeguarding."

I heard the Commander of the Believers, Allah’s blessings be upon him, say: Abstinence in this world is to have short aspiration, thankfulness to every grace and piety with regards to (avoiding) what Allah has forbidden upon you.
