عروة بن أسماء: السلمي: من المسلمين الذين بعث النبي صلى الله عليه وآله، المنذر بن عمرو أخا بني ساعدة فيهم، منهم عروة بن أسماء السلمي، إلى أهل نجد للدعوة إلى الاسلام فلم يقبلوا منهم الدعوة، ووقع بينهم وبين أهل بئر معونة القتال، فقتلوا عن آخرهم إلا كعب بن زيد، فإنهم تركوه وبه رمق فارتث من بين القتلى فعاش حتى قتل يوم الخندق، ذكره ابن شهرآشوب في المناقب: الجزء 1، باب ذكر سيدنا رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله، فصل في غزواته صلى الله عليه وآله، ج 1، ص 195.
