hadith 1027
Hadith.1032 - Hammad ibn Uthman asked Imam Jafar ibn Muhammad Al-Sadiq (as) a person who missed part of their prayers and then remembered it at sunrise or sunset. Imam (as) replied: "He should pray as soon as he remembers”.
1032 - وَ سَأَلَ حَمَّادُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ أَبَا عَبْدِ اَللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ اَلسَّلاَمُ: عَنْ رَجُلٍ فَاتَهُ شَيْءٌ مِنَ اَلصَّلَوَاتِ فَذَكَرَ عِنْدَ طُلُوعِ اَلشَّمْسِ أَوْ عِنْدَ غُرُوبِهَا قَالَ
«فَلْيُصَلِّ حِينَ يَذْكُرُ.

1. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Muhammad ibn al-Husayn from ‘Uthman ibn ‘Isa from Sama‘ah, who has said the following
“I once asked him (the Imam) (a.s.), about performing Salah (prayer) during the night and during the day when the sun, the moon and stars cannot be seen. He (the Imam) said, ‘ Strive to come up with your best opinion about al-Qiblah (al-Ka‘bah).’”
1ـ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ سَمَاعَةَ قَالَ
سَأَلْتُهُ عَنِ الصَّلاَةِ بِاللَّيْلِ وَالنَّهَارِ إِذَا لَمْ تُرَ الشَّمْسُ وَلاَ الْقَمَرُ وَلاَ النُّجُومُ قَالَ اجْتَهِدْ رَأْيَكَ وَتَعَمَّدِ الْقِبْلَةَ جُهْدَكَ.

21. It is a narration from him (narrator of previous Hadith) by Ahmad ibn Muhammad from ‘Uthman ibn ‘Isa from Sama’ah who has said the following
“I once asked him (the Imam) (a.s.), about the words of Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, ‘Do not be loud in your Salah (prayer) nor very quiet.’ (17:110) He (the Imam) said, ‘Quiet is when you do not hear it, and loud is when you raise your voice very loud.’”
21ـ وَعَنْهُ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ سَمَاعَةَ قَالَ
سَأَلْتُهُ عَنْ قَوْلِ الله عَزَّ وَجَلَّ وَلا تَجْهَرْ بِصَلاتِكَ وَلا تُخافِتْ بِها قَالَ الْمُخَافَتَةُ مَا دُونَ سَمْعِكَ وَالْجَهْرُ أَنْ تَرْفَعَ صَوْتَكَ شَدِيداً.

3. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Salmah ibn al-Khattab from al-Husayn ibn Sayf from Hammad ibn ‘Uthman from Muhammad ibn Hakim who has said the following
“I once heard abu al-Hassan (a.s.), say, ‘If you perform two Salah (prayer), one after the other, do not perform optional Salah (prayer) between them.”’
3ـ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ عَنِ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ سَيْفٍ عَنْ حَمَّادِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ حَكِيمٍ عَنْ أَبِي الْحَسَنِ (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) قَالَ
سَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ إِذَا جَمَعْتَ بَيْنَ الصَّلاَتَيْنِ فَلاَ تَطَوَّعْ بَيْنَهُمَا.

14. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Salmah ibn al-Khattab from Muhammad ibn al-Walid from Aban ibn ‘Uthman from ‘Umar ibn Yazid who has said the following
“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘The time for al-Maghrib Salah (prayer) on a journey remains until passing of one-fourth of the night.’”

قَالَ وَقْتُ الْمَغْرِبِ فِي السَّفَرِ إِلَى رُبُعِ اللَّيْلِ.

2. Al-Husayn ibn Muhammad has narrated from Mu‘alla’ ibn Muhammad from al-Washsha’ from Hammad ibn ‘Uthman from Sa‘id al- Bayya’ al-Sabiriy who has said the following
“I asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), ‘Can a person weep during Salah (prayer)?’ The Imam replied, ‘It is a matter of great congratulations even if it (tears) is of the size of the head of a fly.’”
2ـ الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ مُعَلَّى بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنِ الْوَشَّاءِ عَنْ حَمَّادِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ عَنْ سَعِيدٍ بَيَّاعِ السَّابِرِيِّ قَالَ
قُلْتُ لأَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) أَ يَتَبَاكَى الرَّجُلُ فِي الصَّلاَةِ فَقَالَ بَخْ بَخْ وَلَوْ مِثْلَ رَأْسِ الذُّبَابِ.

7. Al-Husayn ibn Muhammad has narrated from Mu‘alla’ ibn Muhammad from al-Hassan ibn Ali al-Washsha’ from Aban ibn ‘Uthman from al-Fudayl ibn Yasar from one of the two Imam, ‘Alayhim al-Salam, who has said the following
“About a man’s yawning and stretching during Salah (prayer) the Imam (a.s.), has said, ’It comes from Satan over which he has no control (but one should control things that cause it to happen).”’
7ـ الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ مُعَلَّى بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ الْوَشَّاءِ عَنْ أَبَانِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ عَنِ الْفُضَيْلِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ عَنْ أَحَدِهِمَا (عَلَيْهِما الْسَّلام)
أَنَّهُ قَالَ فِي الرَّجُلِ يَتَثَاءَبُ وَيَتَمَطَّى فِي الصَّلاَةِ قَالَ هُوَ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ وَلاَ يَمْلِكُهُ.

4. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from al-Husayn ibn Sa‘id from ‘Uthman ibn ‘Isa from Ishaq ibn ‘Ammar who has said the following
“I once asked him (the Imam) (a.s.), ‘Can I perform optional Salah (prayer) in the time for obligatory one?’ He (the Imam) replied, ‘Yes, you can do so in the beginning of time if you are with the Imam who leads you in Salah (prayer). If you are alone, then perform the obligatory first.’”
4ـ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنِ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ عَمَّارٍ قَالَ
قُلْتُ أُصَلِّي فِي وَقْتِ فَرِيضَةٍ نَافِلَةً قَالَ نَعَمْ فِي أَوَّلِ الْوَقْتِ إِذَا كُنْتَ مَعَ إِمَامٍ تَقْتَدِي بِهِ فَإِذَا كُنْتَ وَحْدَكَ فَابْدَأْ بِالْمَكْتُوبَةِ.

2. A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn abu ‘Abd Allah from certain people (scholars of Kufa) of Iraq from Muhammad al-Muthanna al- Hadrami from his father from ‘Uthman ibn Zayd from Jabir who has said the following
“Once abu Ja’far (a.s.) said to me, ‘O Jabir, (I wish) Allah grants you a chance to think of yourself as falling short in your worship and having deficiencies.’”
2ـ عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله عَنْ بَعْضِ الْعِرَاقِيِّينَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمُثَنَّى الْحَضْرَمِيِّ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ زَيْدٍ عَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ
قَالَ لِي أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) يَا جَابِرُ لا أَخْرَجَكَ الله مِنَ النَّقْصِ وَ[ لا ] التَّقْصِيرِ.

Hadith.1046 - Hamad ibn Othman said: I said to Imam Jafar ibn Muhammad Al-Sadiq (as): 'The standing in prayer has become very difficult for me.' He (as) replied: 'When you want to catch the prayer of the one standing, recite while sitting. When there remain two verses of the surah, then stand up and complete the remaining part, and bow and prostrate. That is the prayer of the one standing.'"
1046 - وَقَالَ حَمَّادُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ: قُلْتُ لِأَبِي عَبْدِ اَللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ اَلسَّلاَمُ قَدِ اِشْتَدَّ عَلَيَّ اَلْقِيَامُ فِي اَلصَّلاَةِ فَقَالَ «إِذَا أَرَدْتَ أَنْ تُدْرِكَ صَلاَةَ اَلْقَائِمِ فَاقْرَأْ وَ أَنْتَ جَالِسٌ فَإِذَا بَقِيَ مِنَ اَلسُّورَةِ آيَتَانِ فَقُمْ وَ أَتِمَّ مَا بَقِيَ وَ اِرْكَعْ وَ اُسْجُدْ فَذَاكَ صَلاَةُ اَلْقَائِمِ.

2. Al-Husayn ibn Muhammad has narrated from Mu‘alla’ ibn Muhammad from al-Washsha’ from Aban ibn ‘Uthman from ‘Abd al- Rahman ibn abu ‘Abd Allah who has said the following
“I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about a man who performs Salah (prayer) when a woman is parallel with him on the right or left. He (the Imam) said, ‘It is not harmful if she is not performing Salah (prayer)”’
2ـ الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ مُعَلَّى بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنِ الْوَشَّاءِ عَنْ أَبَانِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله قَالَ
سَأَلْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) عَنِ الرَّجُلِ يُصَلِّي وَالْمَرْأَةُ بِحِذَاهُ يَمْنَةً أَوْ يَسْرَةً قَالَ لاَ بَأْسَ بِهِ إِذَا كَانَتْ لاَ تُصَلِّي.

4. Ali ibn Muhammad has narrated from Muhammad ibn Musa from Muhammad ibn ‘Isa from ibn Faddal from Hammad ibn ‘Uthman who has said the following
“Muhammad ibn Hakim narrated to me that he had heard abu al-Hassan (a.s.), say, ‘Performing two Salah (prayer) soon one after the other is when no optional Salah (prayer) is performed between them. When optional Salah (prayer) is performed between them, they are not performed soon one after the other.’”
4ـ عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ مُوسَى عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنِ ابْنِ فَضَّالٍ عَنْ حَمَّادِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حَكِيمٍ قَالَ
سَمِعْتُ أَبَا الْحَسَنِ (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) يَقُولُ الْجَمْعُ بَيْنَ الصَّلاَتَيْنِ إِذَا لَمْ يَكُنْ بَيْنَهُمَا تَطَوُّعٌ فَإِذَا كَانَ بَيْنَهُمَا تَطَوُّعٌ فَلاَ جَمْعَ.

1. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from ‘Uthman ibn ‘Isa from Sama‘ah who has said the following
“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘One, when reading from the Holy Quran, should, upon coming across a verse that speaks of prayer or warning, ask Allah for what is good that one hopes for and for safety from fire and torment.’”
1ـ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ سَمَاعَةَ قَالَ
قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) يَنْبَغِي لِمَنْ يَقْرَأُ الْقُرْآنَ إِذَا مَرَّ بِآيَةٍ مِنَ الْقُرْآنِ فِيهَا مَسْأَلَةٌ أَوْ تَخْوِيفٌ أَنْ يَسْأَلَ الله عِنْدَ ذَلِكَ خَيْرَ مَا يَرْجُو وَيَسْأَلَهُ الْعَافِيَةَ مِنَ النَّارِ وَمِنَ الْعَذَابِ.

5. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Muhammad ibn al-Hassan from Ja‘far ibn Bashir from Hammad ibn ‘Uthman from Idris ibn ‘Abd Allah al-Qummiy who has said the following
“I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about a man who performs Salah (prayer) and a woman is in his view, standing on furnishing on his side. He (the Imam) said, ‘If she is sitting, it is not harmful, but if she is performing Salah (prayer), then it is not acceptable.’”
5ـ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ بَشِيرٍ عَنْ حَمَّادِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ عَنْ إِدْرِيسَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الله الْقُمِّيِّ قَالَ
سَأَلْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) عَنِ الرَّجُلِ يُصَلِّي وَبِحِيَالِهِ امْرَأَةٌ قَائِمَةٌ عَلَى فِرَاشِهَا جَنْبَتِهِ فَقَالَ إِنْ كَانَتْ قَاعِدَةً فَلاَ يَضُرُّهُ وَإِنْ كَانَتْ تُصَلِّي فَلاَ.

1. Al-Husayn ibn Muhammad al-Ash’ari narrated to me from Mu’ alia ibn Muhammad al-Ziyadi from Hassan ibn Ali al-Washsha’ who has said that narrated to us Aban ibn ‘Uthman from Fudayl from abu Hamza from abu Ja’far (a.s.) who has said the following
“Abu Ja’far (a.s.) has said, ‘Islam is based on five principles. It is based on Prayer, Charity (al-Zakat) Fasting, Hajj and al-Wilayah (Divine Authority of A ’immah). The call to none of the other principles has been so emphatic as it has been to al-Wilayah.’”
1ـ حَدَّثَنِي الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الأشْعَرِيُّ عَنْ مُعَلَّى بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ الزِّيَادِيِّ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ الْوَشَّاءِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبَانُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ عَنْ فُضَيْلٍ عَنْ أَبِي حَمْزَةَ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) قَالَ
بُنِيَ الإسْلامُ عَلَى خَمْسٍ عَلَى الصَّلاةِ وَالزَّكَاةِ وَالصَّوْمِ وَالْحَجِّ وَالْوَلايَةِ وَلَمْ يُنَادَ بِشَيْ‏ءٍ كَمَا نُودِيَ بِالْوَلايَةِ.

6. It is narrated that Imam Muhammad Baqir (a.s.) said, “
One who is intoxicated after drinking wine, the Almighty Allah will not accept his Salaat for next forty days. If he misses a Salaat during these days, the Almighty Allah will give him double punishment for each Salaat missed out.”
حَدَّثَنِی مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ الصَّفَّارُ عَنْ مُعَاوِیَهَ بْنِ حُکَیْمٍ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِی عُمَیْرٍ عَنْ أَبَانِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ عَنِ الْفُضَیْلِ بْنِ یَسَارٍ قَالَ
سَمِعْتُ أَبَا جَعْفَرٍ ع یَقُولُ مَنْ شَرِبَ الْخَمْرَ فَسَکِرَ مِنْهَا لَمْ یَقْبَلِ اللَّهُ صَلَاتَهُ أَرْبَعِینَ یَوْماً فَإِنْ تَرَکَ الصَّلَاهَ فِی هَذِهِ الْأَیَّامِ ضُوعِفَ عَلَیْهِ لِتَرْکِ الصَّلَاهِ.

8. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from ‘Uthman ibn ‘Isa from Sama‘ah ibn Mehran who has said the following
“I once asked him (the Imam) (a.s.), about a man who forgets to perform the morning Salah (prayer) until it is sunrise. He (the Imam) said, ’He performs it whenever he remembers. The Messenger of Allah remained sleeping during the time for the morning Salah (prayer) until sunrise, then he performed it Qada’ (compensatory prayer) when he woke up but moved away from his place, then performed Salah (prayer).’”
8ـ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ سَمَاعَةَ بْنِ مِهْرَانَ قَالَ
سَأَلْتُهُ عَنْ رَجُلٍ نَسِيَ أَنْ يُصَلِّيَ الصُّبْحَ حَتَّى طَلَعَتِ الشَّمْسُ قَالَ يُصَلِّيهَا حِينَ يَذْكُرُهَا فَإِنَّ رَسُولَ الله (صلّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِه) رَقَدَ عَنْ صَلاَةِ الْفَجْرِ حَتَّى طَلَعَتِ الشَّمْسُ ثُمَّ صَلاَّهَا حِينَ اسْتَيْقَظَ وَلَكِنَّهُ تَنَحَّى عَنْ مَكَانِهِ ذَلِكَ ثُمَّ صَلَّى.

21. A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Khalid from ‘Uthman ibn ‘Isa from Sama’a from Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) who has said the following
“I heard Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) saying, ‘Exercise patience in the act of obedience to Allah and dictate yourselves with patience in the matters of disobeying Allah. The world is one hour. What is passed its joys and sadness do not renew. What has not yet arrived, you do not know it. Bear patience in the hour in which you live, your condition will be the one very much sought after.”
21ـ عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ سَمَاعَةَ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) قَالَ
سَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ اصْبِرُوا عَلَى طَاعَةِ الله وَتَصَبَّرُوا عَنْ مَعْصِيَةِ الله فَإِنَّمَا الدُّنْيَا سَاعَةٌ فَمَا مَضَى فَلَيْسَ تَجِدُ لَهُ سُرُوراً وَلا حُزْناً وَمَا لَمْ يَأْتِ فَلَيْسَ تَعْرِفُهُ فَاصْبِرْ عَلَى تِلْكَ السَّاعَةِ الَّتِي أَنْتَ فِيهَا فَكَأَنَّكَ قَدِ اغْتَبَطْتَ.

1. Al-Husayn ibn Muhammad al-Ash’ariy has narrated from ‘Abd Allah ibn ‘Amir from Ali ibn Mahziyar from Fadalah ibn Ayyub from al-Husayn ibn ‘Uthman from ibn Muskan from Zurarah who has said the following
“He (the Imam) (a.s.), once said to me, ‘Do you know why one and two yards are set?’ I (the narrator) said, ‘Why are they set?’ He (the Imam) said, ‘It is because of obligatory Salah (prayer). You can perform optional Salah (prayer) soon after the sun declines (to the west at noontime) until it become one yard, but if you begin the obligatory one, you do not perform optional Salah (prayer).”’
1ـ الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الأشْعَرِيُّ عَنْ عَبْدِ الله بْنِ عَامِرٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ مَهْزِيَارَ عَنْ فَضَالَةَ بْنِ أَيُّوبَ عَنِ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ عَنِ ابْنِ مُسْكَانَ عَنْ زُرَارَةَ قَالَ
قَالَ لِي أَ تَدْرِي لِمَ جُعِلَ الذِّرَاعُ وَالذِّرَاعَانِ قَالَ قُلْتُ لِمَ قَالَ لِمَكَانِ الْفَرِيضَةِ لَكَ أَنْ تَتَنَفَّلَ مِنْ زَوَالِ الشَّمْسِ إِلَى أَنْ يَبْلُغَ ذِرَاعاً فَإِذَا بَلَغَ ذِرَاعاً بَدَأْتَ بِالْفَرِيضَةِ وَتَرَكْتَ النَّافِلَةَ.

25. Al-Husayn ibn Muhammad has narrated from as ibn ‘Amir from Ali ibn Mahziyar from Fadalah ibn Ayyub from al-Husayn ibn ‘Uthman from ‘Amr ibn abu Nasr who has said the following
“I once said to abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), that a man stands up for Salah (prayer), wants to read a Surah (chapter) and he reads Surah (chapter) 112 and Surah (chapter) 109. He (the Imam) said, ‘He can discontinue reading any Surah (chapter) except Surah (chapter) 112 and Surah (chapter) 109.’”
25ـ الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الله بْنِ عَامِرٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ مَهْزِيَارَ عَنْ فَضَالَةَ بْنِ أَيُّوبَ عَنِ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ أَبِي نَصْرٍ قَالَ
قُلْتُ لأَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) الرَّجُلُ يَقُومُ فِي الصَّلاَةِ فَيُرِيدُ أَنْ يَقْرَأَ سُورَةً فَيَقْرَأُ قُلْ هُوَ الله أَحَدٌ وَقُلْ يَا أَيُّهَا الْكَافِرُونَ فَقَالَ يُرْجَعُ مِنْ كُلِّ سُورَةٍ إِلاَّ مِنْ قُلْ هُوَ الله أَحَدٌ وَمِنْ قُلْ يَا أَيُّهَا الْكَافِرُونَ.
