If he dies with something of it in his stomach, then it will be a right on Allah to make him drink his own melted flesh, which is the pus of the people of the Fire, as well as that which comes out of the privates of adulterers. That will be gathered in the pots of Hell, and the people of the Fire will drink from it, and it will melt that which is in their stomachs and their flesh.” He prohibited consuming usury, bearing false witness, and issuing usury. He (as) said: “Surely, Allah curses the consumer of usury, its dealer, its issuer, and the one who witnesses over it.” He prohibited lending on the condition of sale. He prohibited [binding interactions] when a buyer and seller [have not yet separated.] He prohibited selling that which you do not have. He prohibited selling that which cannot be guaranteed. He prohibited hiring a worker before knowing what his wage is. He prohibited ignoring [a person]; and if he must do so, then he cannot ignore his brother for more than three days. Whoever ignores his brother for longer than that, then the Fire is most rightful to him. He prohibited selling gold and silver at one price. He prohibited selling gold for more gold except that which is equal in weight. He prohibited overpraising [others]. He said: “Throw dust in the faces of those who overpraise.” He (s) said: “Whoever supports the argument of an oppressor or supports him in it, when the Angel of Death comes down to him, it will say to him: ‘I give you tidings of the curse of Allah and the Fire of Hell in the misery of fate.’ Whoever praises a tyrannical leader and eases him and incites him for his own benefit, he will follow him into the Fire.” He (s) said: “Allah says, ‘And do not be inclined to the oppressors or you will be touched by the Fire.’ (11:113)”
He (s) said: “Whoever recites the Quran, then drinks something forbidden, or was affected by love of this world and its frills, will have made the indignation of Allah obligatory on himself, unless he repents. If he dies without repenting, then he will have deserted the Quran on the Day of Resurrection, and he will be invalidated.” Surely, whoever commits adultery with a Muslim woman, a Jewish woman, a Christian woman, or a Zoroastrian woman, free or bond, and does not repent, and dies insistent on that, Allah will open three hundred gates to his grave, from which snakes, scorpions, and serpents of the Fire will come through. He will burn until the Day of Resurrection. When he is resurrected from his grave, the people will seek refuge from the stench of his smell, and he will be recognized for that and for what he did in the abode of this world, until he is sent to the Fire. Surely, it is Allah that forbade the forbidden and set the penalties (or limits), and not one other than Allah. It is none but He who forbade immoral actions. He prohibited looking into the house one’s neighbour. He said: “Whoever intentionally looks at the private of his Muslim brother or the private of one from outside his family, Allah will include him among the hypocrites who would implore about the privates of Muslims. He will not come out of this world until Allah exposes him unless he repents.” He (s) said: “Whoever is not pleased with what Allah allotted for him of sustenance, and broadcasts his complaints, and does not exercise patience and consideration, his good deeds will not be raised up. He will meet Allah while He is angry unless he repents.” He prohibited strutting while walking. He said: “Whoever wears a robe and struts in it, Allah will take him to the edge of Hell. He will follow Qarun because he was the first who strutted about his house on Earth. Whoever struts has challenged Allah in His might.” He (s) said: “Whoever oppresses a woman of her dowry is considered by Allah to be an adulterer. Allah will say to him on the Day of Resurrection: ‘My servant! I have married you to My maidservant upon My covenant, but you did not fulfill My covenant. You have oppressed My maidservant.’ So, she will take from his good deeds in proportion to what is owed to her. If he does not have enough good deeds, he will be ordered to the Fire, having abandoned the covenant. ‘Surely, you will be accounted for your covenant.’ (17:34)” He (s) prohibited concealing testimonies. He said: “Whoever conceals it, Allah will feed his flesh to the heads of creatures.” That is the saying of Allah, “Do not conceal the testimony, for whoever conceals it, their hearts are surely sinful.” (2:283) The Messenger of Allah (s) said: “Whoever harms his neighbour, Allah forbids the fragrance of Paradise from him, and his place will be in Hell in the misery of fate. Whoever squanders the right of his neighbour is not of us. Gabriel has not stopped advising me about the neighbour, to the point where I thought that he would also inherit. He has not stopped advising me about the slaves, to the point where I thought that they would be freed once they reached a certain time. He did not stop advising me about the toothstick, to the point where I thought that he would make it an obligation. He did not stop advising me about standing at night in prayer, to the point where I thought that the best of my Nation would not sleep. Surely, whoever does not take the affairs of a poor Muslim seriously, Allah will not take his rights seriously, and Allah will not take his affairs seriously on the Day of Resurrection, unless he repents.” He (s) said: “Whoever is generous to a poor Muslim, he will meet Allah on the Day of Resurrection, and He will be pleased with him.” He (s) said: “Whoever is presented with an indecency or a temptation and avoids them out of the fear of Allah, Allah will forbid the Fire from him. He will safeguard him from the Great Dismay, and He will reward him with what He promised in His Book, in His saying, ‘For he who fears standing before his Lord is two gardens.’ (55:46)” Surely, whoever is presented with this world and the Hereafter, and he chooses this world over the Hereafter, he will meet Allah on the Day of Resurrection without a good deed to prevent him from the Fire. Whoever chooses the Hereafter over this world, Allah will be pleased with him, and He will forgive him of his sinful actions. Whoever fills his eye with forbidden things, Allah will fill his eye with fire on the Day of Resurrection. Whoever attaches himself to a woman that is forbidden to him, he will be in a ring of fire with Satan, and they will be cast into the Fire. Whoever cheats a Muslim in buying or selling is not of us, and he will be resurrected on the Day of Resurrection with the Jews, because they cheat the Muslims the most among the creation. The Messenger of Allah (s) prohibited depriving anyone of kindness. He said: “Whoever deprives his neighbour of kindness, Allah will deprive him of His goodness on the Day of Resurrection. He will assign him to himself, and whoever is assigned to himself will be in the worst condition!” He (s) said: “When a woman harms her husband with her tongue, Allah does not accept her compulsory, voluntary, or good deeds until she pleases him; even if she fasts during the day, prays during the night, frees slaves, and mounts a horse [to fight] in the cause of Allah, she will be the first to be sent to the Fire. It is the same for the man if was oppressive toward her.” Surely, whoever strikes the cheek or the face of a Muslim, Allah will scatter his bones on the Day of Resurrection, and he will be resurrected chained up until he enters Hell, unless he repents. Whoever goes to sleep while having cheated his brother in his heart has slept upon the indignation of Allah and will awake thereupon until he repents. He prohibited backbiting.
He said: “Whoever backbites a Muslim person will have invalidated his fasting and cancelled out his ablution. He will be brought on the Day of Resurrection smelling like a corpse. His smell will harm the people of the stand. If he dies before he repents, he will die allowing that which was forbidden by Allah.” He (s) said: “Whoever forbears an oppression while he is capable of enforcing [his right], Allah gives him the reward of a martyr.” Surely, whoever refutes the backbiting of his brother in a gathering, Allah repels seventy gates of harm from him in this world and the Hereafter. If he does not refute it while he is able to, then he will have the sin of one who backbites seventy times. The Messenger of Allah (s) prohibited betrayal. He said: “Whoever betrays a trust in this world and does not give it to its rightful owner, then dies, will have died upon a creed other than mine. He will meet Allah while He is angry.” He (s) said: “Whoever bears false witness over one of the people, his tongue will be hung with the hypocrites in the lowest depth of the Fire.” Whoever knowingly hires a betrayer, then he is like the betrayer. Whoever withholds a right of his Muslim brother, Allah will forbid the blessing of sustenance from him, unless he repents. Surely, whoever hears of an indecency and spreads it, then he is like the one that did it. Whoever is approached by his Muslim brother for a loan, and he is capable of giving it but he does not, Allah will forbid the fragrance of Paradise from him. Whoever exercises patience over the poor manners of a woman, seeking a reward [from Allah], Allah will give him the rewards of the thankful in the Hereafter. Surely, if a woman is not compassionate with her spouse, and she makes him do that which he cannot handle, her good deeds will not be accepted, and she will meet Allah while He is angry. Surely, whoever is generous to his Muslim brother is being generous to Allah. The Messenger of Allah (s) prohibited leading a community [in prayer] without their permission. He said: “Whoever leads a community and they are pleased with him, and he gives them his time, and beautifies his prayer in his standing, his recitation, his bowing, his prostration, and his sitting, then he will have a reward like that of the community without decreasing anything of their reward. Surely, whoever leads a community and does not perfect his prayer with him, and does not beautify his humility [before Allah], his bowing, his prostration, and his recitation, his prayer will be rejected and it will not rise above his position. His status will be like that of an oppressive and aggressive leader that cannot rectify his flock and cannot establish any right in them and did not establish an order in them.” He said: “Whoever walks to his relative with his self and his wealth to connect his blood ties, Allah gives him the reward of one hundred martyrs. He will be given one thousand good deeds for every step that he takes, and forty thousand sins will be erased from him, and he will be raised in rank in proportion to that. It will be as though he worshiped Allah for one hundred years in patience and anticipation.
Whoever takes up a need of a blind person and continues until Allah fulfills the need for him, Allah will dissociate him from hypocrisy and dissociate him from the Fire; and He will fulfill seventy needs for him from the needs of this world, and he will remain in the mercy of Allah until he returns [to Allah]. Whoever becomes ill for a day and a night and does not complain to his visitors, Allah raises him on the Day of Resurrection with His Friend Ibrahim the Friend of the Merciful, until he passes through the Path like a bolt of lightening. Whoever goes intending to fulfill a need for an ill person, and fulfills it or does not fulfill it, he will come out of his sins [and be sinless] like the day his mother gave birth to him.”
So, a man from the Ansar said: “May my mother and my father be your sacrifice, O Messenger of Allah! If the ill person were from his family, is there not a greater reward for him who strives to fulfill a need for his family?” He said: “Yes. Surely, whoever relieves a believer of a burden from the burdens of this world, Allah relieves him of seventy-two burdens from the burdens of the Hereafter, and He relieves him of the pain of seventy-two burdens of this world.” He said: “Whoever invalidates the right of a rightful person when he is capable of fulfilling his need will have tens of sins every day. Surely, whoever whips [a person] in front of a tyrant, Allah will make that whip into a serpent of fire that will be seventy cubits long, and he will be whipped with it in the Fire in the misery of fate. Whoever constrains a good from coming to his brother, Allah invalidates his deeds, makes his sin resolute, and does not thank him for his endeavour.”
Then, he (s) said: “Allah says: ‘Paradise is forbidden for one who is wealthy yet stingy; as well as for the backbiter, who is the gossiper.’ Surely, whoever gives in charity, each silver coin that he gives will be a blessing in Paradise, the weight of each of which is like that of Mount Uhud. Whoever brings a charity [of someone else] to a needy person, he will have the reward of the owner [of the charity] without decreasing a thing of his reward. Whoever prays over a deceased person, seventy-thousand angels will pray over him, and Allah will forgive all his past sins. Whoever attends [the funeral] until he is buried and dirt is thrown onto him, he will be rewarded with a carat for each step that he took; each carat will be like Mount Uhud. Surely, whoever sheds a tear in humility before Allah, he will have a palace in Paradise for each tear, decked with pearl and jewels – in it will be that which no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no human heart has imagined.
Surely, whoever goes to the mosque seeking congregational prayer will receive seventy thousand good deeds with each step, and he will be raised in rank in proportion to that. If he dies while doing that, Allah will assign one thousand angels to visit him in his grave. They will bring comfort to him in his solitude, and they will seek forgiveness on his behalf until he is resurrected. Surely, whoever gives the call to prayer in anticipation, seeking the face of Allah with it, Allah will grant him the reward of forty thousand martyrs and forty thousand saints. His intercession will encompass forty thousand people from my Nation, and they will go to Paradise. Surely, when the mu’adhin says: ‘I bear witness that there is no god but Allah’, ninety thousand angels will bless him and ask for forgiveness on his behalf. On the Day of Resurrection, he will be in the shade of the Throne until the creatures are finished with the judgment. When he says: ‘I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah’, forty thousand angels will record his deeds. Whoever secures the first row and the first takbir, and does not harm a Muslim, Allah will reward him with that which is given to the mu’adhins in this world and the Hereafter. Surely, whoever aligns with a fortune-teller, Allah will imprison him at the edge of Hell. For every day [he went, he will be there for] one thousand years. He will be resurrected on the Day of Judgment with his hands chained to his neck. When he stands to be judged by Allah, Allah will cast him away. If he was oppressive, he will be sent to the Fire in the misery of fate.”
He (s) said: “Do not underestimate evil, not matter how small it is in your eyes, and do not overestimate goodness, no matter how much of it is in your eyes. There is nothing too big for repentance, and there is nothing too small for persistence.”
Muhammad b. Zakariyya al-Ghilabi said: I asked Shu`ayb al-Muzni (the narrator) about the length of this report, so he said to me: O Aba `Abdillah! I asked al-Husayn b. Zayd about the length of this hadith, so he said: Ja`far b. Muhammad b. `Ali b. al-Husayn b. `Ali b. Abi Talib (as) narrated to me that he gathered this hadith from a book that was the dictations of the Messenger of Allah (s) and the handwriting of `Ali b. Abi Talib (as).
