177. Sahl Bin Ziyad, from Al-Rayyaan Bin Al-Salt, from Yunus who said
Abu Abdullah (asws) said that: ‘Allah (azwj) Mighty and Majestic never Sent a Prophet (as) at all except that he would have a clear ‘مِرَّةٍ سَوْدَاءَ’ (Seal of Prophet-hood) and Allah (azwj) did not Send a Prophet at all until he accepts the ‘يُقِرَّ لَهُ بِالْبَدَاءِ’ The Decision of Allah at the Start (About the First ‘Al-Noor’-Mohammed (saww) and Ayley Mohammed (asws)).
سَهْلُ بْنُ زِيَادٍ عَنِ الرَّيَّانِ بْنِ الصَّلْتِ عَنْ يُونُسَ رَفَعَهُ قَالَ
قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ (عليه السلام) إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ لَمْ يَبْعَثْ نَبِيّاً قَطُّ إِلَّا صَاحِبَ مِرَّةٍ سَوْدَاءَ صَافِيَةٍ وَ مَا بَعَثَ اللَّهُ نَبِيّاً قَطُّ حَتَّى يُقِرَّ لَهُ بِالْبَدَاءِ.

219. A number of our companions, from Sahl Bin Ziyad, from Ali Bin Hassaan, from Musa Bin Bakr who said
Once a boy complained to Abu Al-Hassan (asws), so he (asws) asked about him, so they told him (asws) that the boy had the spleen trouble. So he (asws) said: ‘Feed him leek for three days’. So we fed it to him, he excreted blood, then was free (cured)’.
عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ حَسَّانَ عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ بَكْرٍ قَالَ
اشْتَكَى غُلَامٌ إِلَى أَبِي الْحَسَنِ (عليه السلام) فَسَأَلَ عَنْهُ فَقِيلَ إِنَّهُ بِهِ طُحَالًا فَقَالَ أَطْعِمُوهُ الْكُرَّاثَ ثَلَاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ فَأَطْعَمْنَاهُ إِيَّاهُ فَقَعَدَ الدَّمُ ثُمَّ بَرَأَ.

10. A number of our people have narrated from Sahl ibn Ziyad from Ja’far ibn Muhammad al-Ash’ari from ibn al-Qaddah from Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) who has said the following
“Amir al-Mu’minin, Ali ibn abu Talib (a.s.) has said, ‘Whoever believes in Allah and in the Day of Judgment must not stay in a place that casts doubt on one’s credentials and make them murky.’”
10ـ عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ الأشْعَرِيِّ عَنِ ابْنِ الْقَدَّاحِ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) قَالَ
قَالَ أَمِيرُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ (صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وآلِه) مَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِالله وَالْيَوْمِ الآخِرِ فَلا يَقُومُ مَكَانَ رِيبَةٍ.

8. A number of our people have narrated from Sahl ibn Ziyad from Yahya ibn al- Mubarak from ‘Abd Allah ibn Jabalah from Mu’awiyah ibn Wahab from Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) who has said the following
“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.) has said, ‘Whoever is granted the ability to be thankful is also granted increase in bounties. Allah, the Most Majestic, the Most Holy, has said, “. . . if you give thanks, I shall give you greater (favors). .. .’””(14:7)
8ـ عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ الْمُبَارَكِ عَنْ عَبْدِ الله بْنِ جَبَلَةَ عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ وَهْبٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) قَالَ
مَنْ أُعْطِيَ الشُّكْرَ أُعْطِيَ الزِّيَادَةَ يَقُولُ الله عَزَّ وَجَلَّ لَئِنْ شَكَرْتُمْ لأزِيدَنَّكُمْ.

17. A number of our people have narrated from Sahl ibn Ziyad from Ja’far ibn Muhammad al-Ash’ari from ‘Abd Allah ibn Maymun al-Qaddah from Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) who has said the following
“Amir al-Mu’minin (Ali ibn abu Talib) (a.s.) has said, ‘A believer is easy to associate with and there is nothing good in one who does not associate with others or is associated with.’”
17ـ عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ الأشْعَرِيِّ عَنْ عَبْدِ الله بْنِ مَيْمُونٍ الْقَدَّاحِ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) قَالَ
قَالَ أَمِيرُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) الْمُؤْمِنُ مَأْلُوفٌ وَلا خَيْرَ فِيمَنْ لا يَأْلَفُ وَلا يُؤْلَفُ.

12. A number of our people have narrated from Sahl ibn Ziyad from ibn abu Najran from abu Jamilah from those he has mentioned (in his book) from Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) who has said the following
“There is no day wherein every part of the body does not bow down before the tongue pleading, ‘We request you, for the sake of Allah, do not subject us to punishment.’”
12ـ عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي نَجْرَانَ عَنْ أَبِي جَمِيلَةَ عَمَّنْ ذَكَرَهُ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) قَالَ
مَا مِنْ يَوْمٍ إِلا وَكُلُّ عُضْوٍ مِنْ أَعْضَاءِ الْجَسَدِ يُكَفِّرُ اللِّسَانَ يَقُولُ نَشَدْتُكَ الله أَنْ نُعَذَّبَ فِيكَ.

16. Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Yahya al-`Attar (may Allah have mercy on him) said, on the authority of his father, on the authority of Sahl ibn Ziyad, on the authority of some of our scholars that
I wrote to Abu al-Hasan al-Kadhim (AS) asking him about the body and image of Allah, so he replied in writing: “Glory be to Him who has nothing whatsoever like unto Him, and who is devoid of both body and image.”
16 - حدثنا أحمد بن محمد بن يحيى العطار رحمه الله، عن أبيه، عن سهل بن زياد، عن بعض أصحابنا، قال
كتبت إلى أبي الحسن عليه السلام أسأله عن الجسم و الصورة، فكتب: سبحان من ليس كمثله شئ ولا جسم ولا صورة.

3. A number of our people have narrated from Sahl ibn Ziyad from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from ibn abu Nasr from Dawud ibn Sarhan who has said the following
“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about a man who out of forgetfulness eats and drinks in the month of Ramadan, has said, ‘He completes his fast, it is only something Allah fed him.’”
3ـ عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي نَصْرٍ عَنْ دَاوُدَ بْنِ سِرْحَانَ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ السَّلاَم) فِي الرَّجُلِ يَنْسَى فَيَأْكُلُ فِي شَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ قَالَ
يُتِمُّ صَوْمَهُ فَإِنَّمَا هُوَ شَيْ‏ءٌ أَطْعَمَهُ الله إِيَّاهُ.

10. Humayd ibn Ziyad has narrated from al-Hassan ibn Muhammad ibn Sama‘ah from Ahmad ibn al-Hassan al-Mithamiy from Aban from abu al-‘Abbas and ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn abu ‘Abd Allah who has said the following
“We heard abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), saying, ‘ Al-Shuf ’ (one’s rights of pre-emption) is applicable only between two partners who have not concluded their partnership.’”
10- حُمَيْدُ بْنُ زِيَادٍ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سَمَاعَةَ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ الْحَسَنِ الْمِيثَمِيِّ عَنْ أَبَانٍ عَنْ أَبِي الْعَبَّاسِ وَعَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالا
سَمِعْنَا أَبَا عَبْدِ اللهِ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلام) يَقُولُ الشُّفْعَةُ لا تَكُونُ إِلا لِشَرِيكٍ لَمْ يُقَاسِمْ.

15. A number of our people have narrated from Sahl ibn Ziyad Muhammad ibn ‘Isa from ‘Abd Allah ibn ‘Abd al-Rahman from Shu’ayb from abu Basir who has said the following
“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘Applying perfume is of moral discipline of the Prophets and honoring the scribes (the two angels on one’s shoulders).”’

3. Humayd ibn Ziyad has narrated from al-Hassan ibn Muhammad al-Kindiy from al-Mithamiy from Aban ibn ‘Uthman from ‘Abd al- Rahman ibn abu ‘Abd Allah who has said the following
“I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about the case of a woman experiencing Hayd (menses), if she can perform Salah (prayer) for a deceased. He (the Imam) said, ‘Yes, but she must not stand in the line; instead stand alone.’”
3ـ حُمَيْدُ بْنُ زِيَادٍ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ الْكِنْدِيِّ عَنِ الْمِيثَمِيِّ عَنْ أَبَانِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) قَالَ
قُلْتُ تُصَلِّي الْحَائِضُ عَلَى الْجِنَازَةِ قَالَ نَعَمْ وَلاَ تَصُفُّ مَعَهُمْ تَقُومُ مُفْرَدَةً.

3. A number of our people have narrated from Sahl ibn Ziyad and Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from all ibn abu Nasr from Dawud ibn Sarhan who has said the following
“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘If he makes it penetrate, Ghusl (bath), whipping, stoning and mahr (dower) become obligatory.’”

إِذَا أَوْلَجَهُ فَقَدْ وَجَبَ الْغُسْلُ وَ الْجَلْدُ وَ الرَّجْمُ وَ وَجَبَ الْمَهْرُ .

“I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about the case of a woman who dies leaving behind her husband. He (the Imam) said, ‘All of her asset belongs to her husband.’”
7- عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَسْبَاطٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ عَنْ عُيَيْنَةَ بَيَّاعِ الْقَصَبِ عَنْ أَبِي بَصِيرٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللهِ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلام) قَالَ
قُلْتُ لَهُ امْرَأَةٌ هَلَكَتْ وَتَرَكَتْ زَوْجَهَا قَالَ الْمَالُ كُلُّهُ لِلزَّوْجِ.

2. Ali ibn Muhammad has narrated from Sahl ibn Ziyad from Muhammad ibn al-Walid from Yunus ibn Ya’qub from abu Basir from who has said the following
“I once said to abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), ‘I enter Masjid and Salah (prayer) begins while I have already performed Salah (prayer). He (the Imam) said, ‘You can perform Salah (prayer) with them; Allah chooses the lovelier one of the two.’”
2ـ عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْوَلِيدِ عَنْ يُونُسَ بْنِ يَعْقُوبَ عَنْ أَبِي بَصِيرٍ قَالَ
قُلْتُ لأَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) أُصَلِّي ثُمَّ أَدْخُلُ الْمَسْجِدَ فَتُقَامُ الصَّلاَةُ وَقَدْ صَلَّيْتُ فَقَالَ صَلِّ مَعَهُمْ يَخْتَارُ الله أَحَبَّهُمَا إِلَيْهِ.

4. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father and a number of our people have narrated from Sahl ibn Ziyad all from ibn abu Najran from ‘Asem ibn Hamid from Muhammad ibn Qays who has said the following
“I once asked him (the Imam) (a.s.), about the case of a woman who drained her milk and made her husband to drink it so that she could become unlawful to him. He (the Imam) said, ‘He keeps her and makes her feel a backache.’” (Such expression is used for a flogging implemented by a judicial body.)
4- عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ وَعِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ جَمِيعاً عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي نَجْرَانَ عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ حُمَيْدٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ قَيْسٍ قَالَ
سَأَلْتُهُ عَنِ امْرَأَةٍ حَلَبَتْ مِنْ لَبَنِهَا فَأَسْقَتْ زَوْجَهَا لِتَحْرُمَ عَلَيْهِ قَالَ أَمْسَكَهَا وَأَوْجَعَ ظَهْرَهَا.

“Abu Ja’far (a.s.), has said, ‘One in the state of Ihram can wear trousers if one does not find loincloth and al-Khuffayn (shoes) if one cannot find Na’l (sandals). ‘“(Fatwa best explains this Hadith)
6ـ حُمَيْدُ بْنُ زِيَادٍ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سَمَاعَةَ عَنْ غَيْرِ وَاحِدٍ عَنْ أَبَانٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ حُمْرَانَ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلاَم) قَالَ
الْمُحْرِمُ يَلْبَسُ السَّرَاوِيلَ إِذَا لَمْ يَكُنْ مَعَهُ إِزَارٌ وَيَلْبَسُ الْخُفَّيْنِ إِذَا لَمْ يَكُنْ مَعَهُ نَعْلٌ.

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘A woman can eat and give charity and a friend can eat and give charity from the house of his brother.’”

1. Humayd ibn Ziyad has narrated from al-Hassan ibn Muhammad al-Kindiy from more than one person from Aban ibn ‘Uthman from ‘Abd af-Rahman ibn abu ‘Abd Aliah who has said the following
“I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about how many pieces of fabric must be used for shrouding a woman. He (the Imam) said, ‘Five pieces of fabric must be used for shrouding a woman, of which one is al-Khimar (veil)”
1ـ حُمَيْدُ بْنُ زِيَادٍ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ الْكِنْدِيِّ عَنْ غَيْرِ وَاحِدٍ عَنْ أَبَانِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله قَالَ
سَأَلْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) فِي كَمْ تُكَفَّنُ الْمَرْأَةُ قَالَ تُكَفَّنُ فِي خَمْسَةِ أَثْوَابٍ أَحَدُهَا الْخِمَارُ.

1. A number of our people have narrated from Sahl ibn Ziyad from Muhammad ibn Isma’il from Muhammad ibn ‘Adhafir from Ishaq ibn ‘Ammar who has said the following
“Abu ’Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that condolence is offered only near the grave. Thereafter people should disperse so that if something should happen to the deceased no one can hear the voice.”
1ـ عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْمَاعِيلَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عُذَافِرٍ عَنْ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ عَمَّارٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) قَالَ
لَيْسَ التَّعْزِيَةُ إِلاَّ عِنْدَ الْقَبْرِ ثُمَّ يَنْصَرِفُونَ لاَ يَحْدُثُ فِي الْمَيِّتِ حَدَثٌ فَيَسْمَعُونَ الصَّوْتَ.
