Aban that Imam (as) said regarding a man who advances dirhams to another man and pays him in another land. Imam (as) said: "There is no harm in that."

"I asked Abu Abdullah (as) about purchasing a slave from the People of the Book (Ahl al-Dhimma)." Imam (as) replied: "If they acknowledge ownership of the slave, then buy and marry."

“He (the Imam) (a.s.), has said, ‘It is not unlawful if tax payers buy land, if they build and revive it, it becomes their land.’”

“This is concerning my question before abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about my selling mulberry wood from which they made crosses and idols. He (the Imam) said, ‘No, it is not permissible.’”

“This is concerning my question before abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about the case of a man who bought from a charity collector who committed injustice. He (the Imam) said, ‘He can buy from him unless he learns that he has done injustice in collecting those goods.’”

"Four things are not permissible in four situations: treachery, embezzlement, theft, and usury. They are not permissible in Hajj, Umrah, Jihad, or charity."

“This is concerning my question before abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about the case of a man who bought skins from the butcher to give him every day something clearly known. He (the Imam) said, ‘It is not unlawful.’”

“We heard abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), saying, ‘ Al-Shuf ’ (one’s rights of pre-emption) is applicable only between two partners who have not concluded their partnership.’”

I asked Abu Abdillah (as) about a man who sold food for dirhams. When the payment became due, he demanded his money, but the buyer said: "I do not have dirhams; take food instead." Imam (as) said: "There is no harm in that. He is entitled to dirhams, and he may take whatever he wishes in exchange for them."

“This is concerning my question before abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about exchanging one slave for two slaves and a slave for a slave and some dirhams. He (the Imam) said, ‘It is not harmful in the case of all animals if it (the deal) is simultaneous.’”

“This is concerning my question before abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about the case of a man who assigns another man to collect a certain amount of dirham from his debtor; if the assignee can demand payment from the assignor. He (the Imam) said, ‘No, he can never do so unless the debtor was bankrupt before assignment . 555

O middlemen people, you must reduce swearing; it makes a merchandise easily marketable but destroys the profit.’”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘Four things are not lawful in four issues: treachery, excessiveness, theft and unlawful interest are not lawful in al-Hajj, al-‘Umrah, Jihad and charity.’”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘In the exchange of foodstuff of different kinds or other things with different quantities is not harmful in a hand in hand transaction but it is not valid on credit.’”

“I once said to abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), ‘A man asks his slave to sell his grapes as grape juice but he sells it as wine; then brings the price to him.’ He (the Imam) said, ‘The most beloved thing to me in this case is to give it (price) as charity.’”

“This is concerning my question before abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about free labor in villages and what is taken of al-‘Aluj (infidels) and laborers on hire. He (the Imam) said, ‘Stipulate with them. Whatever you have stipulated with them like dirhams, their free labor and other things, then it is for you; but you cannot take from them anything without stipulating, even if you are almost certain (of its lawfulness) that whoever comes to that village that much is taken from him.’ I then asked him (the Imam) about a man who built on his land next to his neighbor, houses or a house, then the people of the house became his neighbors; if he could remove them despite their dislike. He (the Imam) said, ‘They are free to disembark wherever they like and move wherever they like.’”

I asked Abu Abdillah (as) about a man who rented land from another man and said: "Rent it to me for such-and-such amount, whether I cultivate it or not, I will pay you that amount." However, the man did not cultivate the land. Imam (as) said: "The owner has the right to claim the payment. If he wishes, he may waive it, and if he wishes, he may not waive it."

“This is concerning my question before abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about selling gold in exchange for dirham. He (the Imam) said, ‘Send a messenger to receive the price saying, ‘Give that and take this.’”

“Once Ja‘far, Alayhi al-Salam, called me and asked, ‘Has so and so sold his land?’ I replied, ‘Yes, he has done so.’ He (the Imam) said, ‘It is written in the Torah that whoever sells a piece of land or water and does not replace it by another piece of land or water, its price (money received) loses its blessings.”

It is not harmful . 555
